Removing 182 gear knob?

Car  133/225/CLS AMG
Has anyone removed theirs and replaced it with an aftermarket one?

If so, how did you get the OE one off?? Is it glued on, screwed on etc??

Any help would be great as the one in my gf's 182 Cup is a bit boring and she's got her eyes on a couple of different gear knobs.

cheers

Do a search .

It seems they are glued on , most people have had to cut them off .

not really ideal!! :(

Just had a read on there, seems like not a lot of choice other than to hack it off.

iirc you can crack it off using mole grips or similar but the gear lever will have to be held firm to prevent damage.

Why do Renault have to make it so bloody difficult. Especially when they make the standard gear knob pretty dull!!
