Best way to un-paint callipers??

  Cup 172
Now then,

Last year I took off the callipers on the Cup, cleaned them, primed them (with hammerite special metals primer) and painted them yellow (hammerite smooth).

Decided to go back to black but not sure of the best way to do it. I could re-paint them, but I would rather strip off the primer/yellow paint on them at the minute.

Is there anything available to remove this stuff?

Ta,
Phil.

  Better than yours. C*nt.
Nitromors? Where do I get this? Is it a paint on stuff? Will it take it all the way back to the metal?

It's like PVA glue, but you dab it on and leave it a couple of minutes and come back and dab some more on, usually taking the paint off at the same time leaving a nice shiny piece of metal underneath it. You want the stuff in the Green tin, available in Halfords and most DIY shops.

BQ, home base ,any hardware store realy...yes you just paint it on and leave for 5 minutes.then just wire brush it of or scrape it off...also when you have got all or most of the nitro of ,make sure you wash the calliper well in hot soapy water untill every bit of nitro is of other wise the paint wont take to it..

Thanks for the advice. Ideally I just want to get them back to unstandard without having to re-paint...

nitromors will destroy the rubber seals, so ideally strip the calipers down fully

nitromors and a jet washer works

I'd wire brush them, get rid of all loose paint and debris and then just repaint over the top using the yellow paint as a base coat.

I think you'll struggle like fcuk to get it off tbh mate , even with nitromors . You'll probably end up with bits of the yellow paint you can't get off and it'll look worse than ever . I'd just paint over them with hammerite black .

How many coats of Hammerite did you apply?

You may get away with an aggressive wirebrushing then some cellulose thinners on a rag and rub like a madman then repeat!

Two coats of Hammerite... Problem is with doing a proper job, its a proper ball ache to reverse...

Dont want to try taking it off back to the metal to be left with some bits I cant get off...
