Possible to Tripod Dynamique?

  Breaking A 172 Replica
Is the above possible or is the ARB not thick enough on non-RS models?

Will have 60mm lowering spings make it less likely to tripod?

Thanks

Well the 1.6 has the thickest ARB of the Mk2 range so I don't think its to do with that, it'll tripod because of the live rear axle afaik.

Mine loves to do it anyway, got an apex 40mm kit on.

IIRC it is the anti roll bar tightening that pulls the outside rear wheel up in the air.

I am going to give it a go.

What angle/speed corner does it do it best on?

Speed isn't a large requirement, just sharpish cornering. Though hanging a good roundabout at speed will do it too.

Yeah you could watch your news for a crash :S

Why not? I like driving and I am just interested to see if I can get the car to tripod.

no he wants to see if he can c**k a back wheel off the ground cornering,
if he said i want to see how quickly i can get round a corner i'd possibly understand it but??
maybe just me

Ditz - Dave is correct and as are you.

I just am interested to see if it can happen. What else is there to do on a bank holiday Monday in the day?

Find a road where the camber on the bend leans in and it makes it much easier.
It's the back axle that makes it lift a wheel if you got a rear ARB like cusco kid sells it wouldn't be as bad for doing it.

Just go to a carpark, start turning, and get tighter and tighter. Eventually the inside wheel will come up, and 'CRAAASSSSHHHH' you've hit the trolley's.

Fred - can you explain the role the ARB plays in making a clio tripod?

I am sure a tighter anti roll bar helps, but it appears others disagree.

Sam

What makes it tripod is the force acting on the outer rear wheel and the motion of the axle trying to twist lifts the inside wheel. Fitting a stronger rear beam, rear ARB, stiffer shocks and springs etc will all make it happen less.

I dont think it has anything to do with the anti roll bar, coilovers probably help but iv seen clios on standard suspension do it.

Ok I gave it a try...

and it was not having any of it!

The outside part of the inside tyre left the floor but I couldn't get the inside part of the tyre off the ground.

Oh well I will have to give it another go when I find a corner with more camber.
