Just changed my gearbox oil.....

.....and boy was it dirty! Absolutely filthy, so much dirt in it, was told to expect it to be relatively clean but it was a black cloudy solution! Mines only a 02reg on 39k miles! Fully recommend doing it.

mines was like engine oil after 100,000 miles and mines the same age and miles

Used Comma 75w90 - £17 for 3.5litres

My sump plug was leaking hence the change. When I unscrewed it it was only finger tight and the washer was in perfect condition so just reused it, else I had some spares from work.

Where is the drain plug and fill plug for Gearbox ?

Are they above each ?

I.e . Fill pug higher than drain plug ?

I fancy doing this ? ?

Did you have to attach a hose to a funnel to direct it into fill hole ??

Is it just a case of filling into fill hole till it comes out and then stop and replace plug ? ?

GEARBOX CAPACITY AS WELL WOULD BE HANDY

3.1 litres.
Fill plug is a butterfly plastic nut on front, drain is a 8mm square socket plug on the bottom.
I bought a funnel with a long flexi bit attached that went straight into the fill plug.

Easy

Would this be ok to use ?

As in spec 75w90 ?

Apart from 2nd not being so slopping no difference at all, maybe a little smoother when cold but we haven't really had any cold mornings to test this.

Even for just removing all the cr*p in there though it was worth it for the few quid it cost to do.
