Powdercoating...

Have some OZ F1 cups I have been rubbing down lately. Is it worth getting them powdercoated? I should be able to get as good a finish if I did them myself, but as I understand, they will last much longer/less prone to chips if they were powdercoated. Is this right?

Powerdercoating is MUCH more hard wearing! For the £100 odd it'll cost it's not worth getting your rattle cans out.....

Thanks Mini-valver. A lasting finish is worth the money I think. And I'll get them all prepped myself to avoid refurb costs

A place near me does refurbs for £45 a wheel no matter what the condition of the wheel so if you can't be arsed repairing kerbage etc just do that. They are absolutely s**t hot too....

sorry to hijack but i didnt want to start a new thread...

can you powdercoat filler? ive refurbed mine myself with some body filler to smooth out the marks but can this be powder coated aswell?

Pepsi, im pretty sure you cant't as powder coating is basically putting an electric charge through a metal object and the powder then sticks to it. Filler is not a conductor, lol.

Oh dear. I have one or 2 little chips that will need a small amount of filler Managed to rub the rims down though.

Im pretty sure they metal weld it then grind it back.....
Don't quote me on this though as im not 100% sure, lol. Give em a ring and see what they say!

Another alternative is Laptab in brum as well, had a few bits and pieces done by them and they do a s**t hot job.
