Transfering pics....Canon 350D - ibook

i have installed the software

i have plugged the camera and ibook in via usb

i have turned the camera on

and its still not bloody detecting it, anybody had experience with these that can help or has ideas please

Didn't realise you had a 350d Neil. That's what I've got, although I don't run it through a mac. My laptop automatically recognised mine without the software being installed. I haven't really used mac's that much. Have you tried getting a software update or done a web search for a remedy?

iPhoto or Aperture doesn't work?

Shouldn't need software, as it's just a mass storage device right?

That's how it recognises mine, yes. As said, I installed the software on my old pc, but never really used it, so I didn't bother when I got my new laptop.
 
open i photo it will see it then... or should atleast... any 350 i have used wont show up as a mass storage device on a mac... nikons will however...
 
In Applications - Image Capture, picks up the 350D as a device and lets you transfer it too.

I just use a Firewire Card Reader so much faster.
 
That's odd works on all my Macs at home and work with my 350D - camera switched on ?

As Malice said it wont just show up as a disc on the desktop though.
