Clio 172 Phase 1 or 2 (New Guy)

Going to buy a clio 172 phase 1 or 2 at the end of the year just wanted to find out which one you guys think is better and why. thx :S

phase 1. cos it looks better and i didnt have enuff money for a phase 2. but i do think front looks better on ph1 and prefer the nice colourful seat stitching.
same car tho innit really. ph1 rarer too.

ph2, MUCH better interior (albeit not coloured stitching on the seats), more refined and better spec.

Ph1 for driving and throwing around or Ph2 with all its toys and better dash.

Ph1's stand out more, most think they are ugly. I have kept his car longer than any other so it must be good. Although I will be selling it after French Car Show this year.:dapprove: .

this will go on forever.cause half of them will say phase 1 and the other half say phase 2. but i would say phase 2 imo in monaco blue

Thought id go for the phase 2 as its newer and has a better dash +- but the phase 1 is like 100kg lighter!! Handling?

phase 1 for driving experience, phase 2 for better looks/interior/dash toys

I think this question has been asked a few times lol, its all down to personal opinion. I would test drive both if I were you. On the plus side the ph1's are cheaper for the same performance. There are quite a few good ones out there as well.

Phase 1. Originals are always the best

Phase 2 looks just like every other Clio in its rage where as you know when theres a phase one coming towards you as it has a totally different front end.

Rare too. Sure i read somewhere that Renualt only officially imported 1300 phase 1's in to this country via main dealers.

All down to personal taste at the end of the day

I found the phase 1 172 to be much more responsive with the cable throttle too!

Hard choice! My sis has the 1.2 phase 2 lol so slow but is a good car. Clio 172 much different obviously. I know this is going to be pretty bias but around a tack or whatever which one do you think will be the quickest?

phase 1s are lighter than phase 2s by 100kg???? thoutgh that was just diff between ff and cup?
u learn something new every day. well i dunno about diff between ph1 and ph2 cos i only owned phase 1, but i think its, overall, best car ive ever owned so far at 27 even if it appears to have lost me my licence

At nearly 30 I would say it isn't the best car I have had, but its certainly been the most fun.
