Decat worth the bother ? 1.2 16v

Well the car is standard atm. wanting to put a decat on. one thats on here for sale right now. 1.2 16v mk 2 ph 2 one for ~110£££

Anyone shed any light on these things then ? ill get a mate to fit it. Sound ? Performance increases any good ??????? problems fuel economy etc etc.

comments im after really - - - - go go go.

Should see a increase and itl be alot louder if you have an exhaust system.

no no exhaust system. as said. car is totally standard. used to be modified but returned it back last week.

is the increase noticable then ? i know im not going to say wow omg clisport lol. but if it pulls better then i may have to buy the thing lol.

forgot to mention. i am saving up for a new car. and so am reluctant to sell. i aim to have a 1.6 by the end of the year. (im 19 in november and the insurance isnt too bad)

Id leave it, will just sound like you have something wrong with the exhaust if its otherwise standard.

i ran a decat on mine for 30K miles and never had a problem, i ran a std cat with the insides smashed out

A decat is just removing the catalitic converter form the exhaust stem helps remove restriction so hence increase power a bit.

No real great alue fo money mod though decat a panel filter are about it.

oh ok i had one of those on my ped lol .. my car came with a big exhaust and induction kit, not sure what type of exhaust it is though :S , how much is a panel filter and what would that involve?. Jamie.

Just replacing the filter in the airbox atm and they cost around 30 50 quid,depends what make.

i've learned that its not worth moddifying lower powered cars(engine wise)....no point making them sound fast if they aren't.thats how im starting to see it. the slower cars should be used for styling/experimenting rather than power...however having a loud system gets u noticed if you wanna show it off...also gives chav vibes to lol

never known how the exhaust makes the car drink more petrol if all its used for is getting the petrol gasses out....

well i think ill leave it.

There is no way im talking my dad's f**king mitsubishi colt 1.1. itll "pull" to 60 mph and then it just wont shift after that. where as i can achieve 80mph through residentials (pusing 90 if the road is straight) -i dont do it anymore but used to when i had first passed my test.

So i think id rarther save the dosh !!! There is a 1.6 16v clio dynam with my name on it somewhere lol.

:S yeah that is rubbish, just looked in the mag and it says a de-cat will make it run errattic, very sorry my mistake. heres what it said............
