Running Costs of a ph2 V6?

Really quite fancy a clio v6 next, purely cos they look and sound sh1t hot!!

I just need to know what the running and general maintenance costs would be. I would need to save up and wait til I'm 21 (next July).

So at a guess what would:

Insurance be - when 21 with couple of years NCB

Tax for 12months

average MPG on motorway and around town

Tyres cost?

etc etc lol, Just wanna get an idea

Expect to spend £45 for 200 miles (thats my average at the moment- M/A/B roads)

tyres are between 150-300 depending what ones you get.

disc & pads are a s**t load

If you do get one, make sure its MINT.

I'd love a liquid vee, but I very much doubt I'll have 20k to spend on a car next year.

Subway prob earns a fair amount so when he says they are not cheap, that speaks volumes about how much it's going to cost to run.

You've got a craking car, I wish I had a 172 at 20! Why not hang on for a few years when the insurance won't take you for a ride and put all those thousands you'll be spending to something more usefull, rather than paying for some insurance company directors house on the med.

Iit wont be cheap insurance wize and they'll be loving it! probably over 3 grand and you'll have an excess so high you'll need to take out a mortgage to pay for it, if you do ever need to make a claim.

A cambelt service is pushing a grand. If the coil packs go and Renault dont want to replace them for free then that too becomes expensive. (although easier to change on a mk2)

I've heard you'll get 30-35mpg if you are on the motorway (driving legally), significantly less around town. Vee's want to warm up for about half a hour of driving, short trips fill the engine with mayo and waste fuel.
You will notice your fuel bill increase, think; just £5 per week more is £240 a year, based on roughly 300 miles a week you are looking at nearly a grand more in fuel than what you are paying now, every year.

MPG on the motorway yesterday was 34 - i reckon i could get more after the service.

Booting it just for the noise is VERY addictive, then you'll see low 20's!

It's not a town car, very harsh ride if you live anywhere with bumps you're buggered

I bought one that needed the front bumper reprayed and the owner wanted rid due to his misses having a baby, Was HPi clear which is important imo purely for ease of sale!

I have Nothing bad to say about the car, never stopped smiling all day.

Do you get any negative attention from havin a vee ali? Like people keying your car cos they are jealous. I would hate parking it at the pub or something in fear of someone kicking the door in or keying it!!

Lol, only driven it one day! You get alot of attention! It's silly really! Not tried a car park yet, worried about the height of the front bumper

I think i'd comitt suicide if it was key'd! - For me, it's a much easier car to drive than the 172. 2nd gr off the lights etc, straight into 3rd...The car doesn't need to be rushed...Let everyone admire it! lol!

Insurance for me till may is 891 or near as damnit..2yrs ncb and living in aberdeen...Although i'm not at the mo! But it's 300£ cheaper there.

re the pub, whilst i did take it last nite, i wouldn't do it all the time. I want to go out and enjoy a pint and not have to look at the car constantly!

they do have a lot of road presence, very wide and look sexy. Clarkson likes them, remember watching top gear when he reviewed it. The turning circle is poo, but no-one does a full circle on normal roads anyway lol.

I just need to find some cash by the time I'm 21 lol. Gone off the idea of getting a turbo car now.

I work in plymouth but travel from darlington. Its around 400 miles. I tend to stay at 70 mph, the trip computer is a little inaccurate. Worked it out myself and did 30 MPG (the trip computer said 34 MPG). falls big time when pushing on abit.

If i bought one it would have to be my everyday car as would have no way of affording another daily run car.

On my street which is cul de sac there is my silver 172 a blue 172 cup a black 182 red 197 and a silver vee lol not bad of a street. Also have a new golf r32 and a mint 106 gti nicely modded. Someone on the street has a new ferrari lol.

I used to have a modded corsa and out of them all i got broken into 3 times in 5 weeks!!! doh would be me.

I know its not a ph2 but Ive got a ph1 v6 and do a 80mile commute a day in it, but cant get the mpg to get any higher than 21mpg, ive done the rear discs and pads parts cost £300 no labour as i did it myself, my insurance is 24 1 year ncb £1500, would say go for it just be aware of the costs, ive now decided to look for a second though, hate putting that many miles on it.

And the LCR.. Pfft, 25 is the highest i've seen so far.. but then i've only owned it a week and the fun of boosting is addictive!

That's no worse than any decent hot hatch around at the mo though.

About the same as mine.

only get an extra 100 out of the 182 though on £55 so i guess considering it isnt that bad! in terms of per £10 of fuel the 182 only gets 18 miles less!

The pads are cheap depends what type you use though can get them for the same as 172 pads or less if you want.

Rear disk arn't to bad.

As for the fronts I know there a cheaper supplier I forget what though.

my daily communte into newcastle returns 30.4 mpg!!! im livid ....i would imagine a vee would be probabl low 20's. average speed is shown as about 19mph as always stuck in traffic!!! no way could i afford to run a V6 everyday like
