Radio code not working

  Clio 172
Hi

I had to change the battery on my 53 Clio 172 this week. Now the radio wants the unlock code. I checked my service manual and found a sticker with the code on it. However, this code does not work. I think the radio may have been re-coded before I took ownership. Its not written on the radio either.

Just woundered if anyone can anyone help before I have to book it in at Renault.

I've got all the numbers off the unit if that helps.

Thanks

Phil

It might be a long shot, but try the old trick of wrapping it in a plastic bag and chucking it in the freezer for a couple of days. On older radios this used to reset the coding on board, so it might work.

Are you aware there is another button to push after the code is entered before the headunit will unlock? I think it's number 6?

Thanks for the tip murcod. I've just tried it again and it worked.

If it helps anyone else... you need to use the stalk scroll wheel to select the numbers then hold the bottom button for a couple of seconds to validate the code.

Does this actually work, or is it an old wives tale? Surely it's a load of b****cks lol. :D

You can actually put it in via the headunit buttons as well- that's how I normally do it.
