New Clio II, windows keep misting up

  Clio Campus 1.2, 2007
Hi there,

I purchased a brand new Clio II 1,2 in April. The car was delivered with an option pack (maybe only a Danish option), with AC, five doors, OZ F1 15" rims and 14" steel for the winter. Furthermore I had it undersealed.

Whenever it's raining, the windows in my car keep misting up, and it starts right away. I haven't consulted my dealer yet, but have any of you experienced something similar? - My previous car: Peugeot 306, didn't have AC and I never had any problems of this kind. Neither with my car before that.

PS: Nice forum you got here! :)

PPS: I paid the equivalent of 13.000 £ for the above mentioned car - it's expensive to be a Danish car owner :)

Turn off the re-circulation. It's the button at the bottom-right of the CC unit with two curved arrows. The light should be off. Hopefully that will help you.

If it's already off, well umm I'm not sure lol.

It's off of course :)

One more thing - even if I crank up the ventilation it just keeps on. The windows are not cleared. I then have to turn on the AC - which will remove the humidity from the air being pushed into the car, and windows quickly clear up.

I don't know, but it seems to me that the air the ventilation takes in is far to humid, and this causes the windows to mist. And the weather here in Denmark is not as rainy as the UK, so if this is a general problem with the Clio mk2, some of you should have noticed :)

my 182 used to mist up something rotten. I always used the A/C to sort it out. Without using the A/C it would never fully clear unless i went cranking hot and i can't stand it too hot.

Yeah, it's a common Clio problem taking in too much humid air. You could take it to a dealership but they'd probably laugh and tell you to put the AC on hot to clear the mist... b******s!

Is your purchase tax really high, is that why it was so expensive? Sorry it isn't really related, just a point of interest.

I think it is the a/c vapours that build up on the windows over time. Use some windowlene on the inside windows once in a while, that has always done the job for me.

Thanks, I'll try. I'm going that way Monday anyway. You shouldn't have to put on the AC just because it rains a bit. At this point the AC already draws far to much power from my Clio's 1.2 engine :)

Do any of you know if it's only the models fitted with AC, that have this problem? - I wouldn't want to drive in a Clio with no AC, if this will also mist up the windows.

No, that's okay - I brought up the subject :)

Yeah, basically the car is taxed 180% of the retail price, and then we have 25% VAT. Maybe the other way around (first 25% VAT and then 180% tax) - I don't remember. But we have a deduction based on the number of stars in Euro NCAP, the mileage and the number of air bags, so it's more complicated than that.

Shouldn't be a problem already. The car has only driven 5500 km ~ 3400 miles.

Ouch! I thought tax in the UK was bad! Are the rest of your taxes so disproportionately high?

Well yes, but I don't mind. For instance all hospitals and education is free (payed by taxes), and we get paid when going to university - not a lot of course, but you can manage if you have a part time job also :)

Clio's are notorious for misting up..as per other posts, clean windows and apply an anti-misting liquid. I hate winter in the Clio for this reason

Hmm... I hope not - mine is the latest facelift, so they should've had plenty of time to get that fixed. Anways it's still under warranty, 1½ years left, so I will do my best to get it fixed.
