whats best - pc or udm???

I've been toying with the idea of getting myself one of the two, basically i dont think my arms gonna see 30 if i dont ease the load with some machine help lol, would also be great to be able to remove swirls instead of hiding them, whats the diffrence between the two??

Both the same. Ones UK and the others american. Someone correct me if im wrong?

PC is the original and the idea is that the UDM is the replacement but not too much difference from what I've heard. It is quicker and doesn't vibrate as much from what I remember, might be some other bits as well though.

as it happens ive just orderd a PC last nite.....i toyed with idea of gettin a UDM as they are apparantly more powerful, yet for me the PC won because it is a well trusted tool among detailers. people know its a quality good yet the UDM is in its early stages and thirdly people know good techiniques etc nd are familiar with the PC.....if u want discount order from autopia i have a discount code...pm me

Well i had a look on cleanyourcar.co.uk & its gonna cost around £215 delivered to get my self sorted or $200 for a udm, god knows what it would cost after deliverey & buying a 110 transformer, plug & lead, how difficult is it to use a pc to remove swirls?

Wrong lol, Not the same - the UDM is clone based on the Porter Cable with tweaks.

Not tried the UDM so can't comment, worth looking on the Autopia and Detailingworld forums for some reviews.

Think my PC took about a week to get delivered which gave me time to get the transformer sorted and polish, but you might want to order that at the same time from Autopia (the polish that is).

UDM is heavier. But can't comment on how good it is.

i've got both machines and for me the UDM is better it seems to have more torque - ie you can apply more pressure and the head spins where as the pc would stop

i agree the UDM is more powerfull, with a PC you are just paying for a brand name. To be honest though there is little difference between, they both do a good job.

Easy to say - Yes a Rotary is the best tool for the job, standalone results are not as easy to achieve with one though.

Here's a picture of the new Meguiares G110 daul action polisher taken from the Meguiares stand at Sema today.

Its going to retail at just under £150 in the UK, and comes with a one year warranty and a lovely hard plastic carry case.

Stocks before xmas are going to be very slim, but I might be able to get a few if there is any interest.

I've decided to wait till the new UK spec UDM is released in Jan... Whats in the kit and what has it been tested on? Any user feedback?

I'll see if I can get some more specs from them later today when I pop back to the stand.

What I do know is that it has been in testing now for 18 months and has a faster top speed than the Porta Cable.

I've not yet used a UDM, but everyone I've spoken to who has says they prefer there PC.

The handle is optional, and needs to be removed to fit in the carry case.

I agree it is a bit overkill, but feels okay. Actually it felt better pushing the handle forward slightly and resting your hand underneath it on top of the main unit.

Anyone know if the UDM is the full 240v? Doubt it will make much difference?

Yes I think it will be badged the G220 for europe and will work with 240v in the UK.

I will confirm later.

I'd be very intrested for £150 notes if its able to run 240V & is up to spec with the latest PC on the market

Here are some pics of the actual UK version, labelled G220 (see the UK 3-pin plug).

The RRP is £149.99, comes with a one year warranty. It's faster than both the PC and UDM.

Having just had my Meguiars Professional trade account opened, I pushed very hard today to pre-order some stock.

The bottom line is that no promises are being made for allocation before Xmas, although they are still hopefull.

Will know more start of December when hopefully I might be able to order a few.

If you could get info on what pads can be used and whats in the kit then that would be great. Looking at the spec in america, it doesn't look like they offer any packs with pads as Autopia and other people do

Don't think I even saw anything about the backing plate...
