cost to change aux belt

Car  Hyundai i40
going to get my aux belt done this month

renalt have quoted me £160 plus VAT parts and labour and its a really hard job

local garage who i know are good with clios have said it will only take about an hour to change so an hours labour at £40 and the belt will be about a £10

Does the local garage sound about right???

FOR THE AUX BELT???!! christ on a bike thats a rip off!

Not sure about on a FF... but the cup is a doddle!

do it yourself, but if you have to... go to the local one!

wud do it myself but dont have a clue about mechinics! cant even spell it!! lol

glad its alright was a bit worried wen local garage sed its easy then stealer sed it was a hard job

piss easy... most expensive part was the retaining bolt (one with the cast loop sitting on top of the alternator).... but if its not broke you won't need to repair it!

Had mine done with the cambelt and service at GDI last week. Top job Andy/Mark/Carl by the way:cool:

The bolt was MISSING on mine:eek: Hence the extra £55 to pull the assembly out and replace.

FF are more difficult than the cup IIRC as it powers the aircon.

the bolt is £32 from Reno!... for a f**king bolt!! b******s

um.... no.... the bolt was free... we didnt charge for that...

it was extra labour to strip and debur and replace the aux tensioner.... has to be removed and refitted... .you dont take that part off for the belt change...

I charge 2 hours labour and fit a full kit now, not just the belt.
so you get belt, tensioner and idler bearing.
Works out at £90 labour
Kit is £40.66
Then its plus VAT.

If its a clio cup without AC its cheap as chips
