Removed my acoustic valve on friday fitted cold air feed, have not yet recieved the ITG Panel filter but to be honest i think i have lost some low end torque. Not convinced and i may be imagining it but it doesnt feel as lively.

Will give it another few days and if not ill be slinging the valve back on.

Well fair play to you for at least making your own mind up and not being a sheep like most people on here.

I too notice no difference whatsoever. If you want a difference buy a Maxogen.

Engineers often have to use simpler solutions than they'd like to save money. But they never add complexity and cost, like the acoustic valve, unless they're pretty sure there's some benefit.

The acoustic valve was put there by the Renault engineers to do four things. Improve fuel consumption and reduce emissions by having the engine suck warm air (fuel atomises better in war air than cold) except when you are at high revs and full throttle and want maximum power. Decrease induction noise. And increase low end torque.

What removing it and replacing it with a big cold air intake would do is improve throttle response and peak power.

Choose which of the two sets of characteristcs you want. Some people want noise, others don't. Some people are willing to sacrifice a bit of torque and a bit of fuel economy to get a bit more power, others aren't.

The benefits either way are small enough that you can convince yourself that you're getting something that you aren't (or vice versa) simply because of the one thing that removing the acoustic valve and putting in a big open intake has a big effect on: noise level.

Im sure you gain top end though removing 5k onwards is quicker even my friend commented at the time.
