Depends where you live.

Little point asking for suggestions as cable, LLU may not be available in your area any way.

Add your postcode and then your on the right track.

If you have got a wide selection of LLU providers in your local exchange then your in busniness, and fingers crossed Be There are in your neighbourhood :)

I was with Newnet who have been brilliant, but have now switched to UKFSN (Entanet reseller) who come well recommended. Also recommend IDnet as a solid ISP.

(The above is assuming you're in a non-LLU area)

My Sky has been excellent for £5. Not one problem in 12 months - Very reliable and very fast - (850-900 KB/s on 8Mb)

Don't go with Virgin Media ADSL whatever you do! I've just signed up with them and they are awful!!! slow speeds pings of about 300ms!! I've managed to get out of the contract quickly before I got stuck in a 12 month one.

I'm now in the middle of getting migrated to plusnet pro (get a free xbox360 game aswell woot)

Same here. It has it's slower days, but that's more down to the over subscribed exchange I expect. Even it's slower days are more than enough. For £5 a month for 8mb and a 45gb cap I reckon it's a bargain.

Never have any problems with XBox, Wii or PS3 on it either.

HOWEVER... Im not that impressed with the service..its always cutting out.

Previously I was with tiscali, which hasnt been mentioned yet and I couldnt say a bad thing about them.. they had me and recently my auntie up and working within 5 days, 5 days earlier than they told me so I was pleased.

What's the advantage of LLU?

I can get Sky in my area and I'm seriously considering it (limited to 4.5mbps tho).

Well at present IP stream (BT suuplied Broadband) is limited to 8mb and LLU providers say for example Sky can go upto 16mb as it is their equipment in you local exchnage and not IP stream. Also people like Sky, Virgin and so on just re-sell an IP stream connection under their own brand if their LLU isnt available.

Cant fault sky's speed or connection. I was with orange and it was always slowing down or cutting out all together, especially in the evenings, just when you need it!!

  Tesla MP3 2021
So in your case it is probably IP stream labelled as Sky.

Cheers - Samsknows does say my exchange is LLU enabled for Sky though.

Will check with them before I make any moves.

Cheers.

Who has advised you that you are limited 4.5mb??

If they mean you cant go any higher than this then it will indicate that you have a really long line so you wont be able to get the greater speeds like 16mb.

Sky - when I put in a phone number into their checker.

I don't have a BT phone in my flat yet so I used a neighbours number to check it out.
