clio sport 172 cup track action

i read it had de cat ,ecu, air filter and exhaust.Whats that gonna be making then ,about 180 bhp?
Just shows its more about power to weight and driver ability than big bhp numbers.

180 is ambitious - The ECU adds nothing other than a higher limiter so probably a real 175 or so.

Don't plan on touching the engine any further, brakes are top-notch already, just got to finish stripping it, then fit steering wheel, seat, harness, and some proper suspension next year.

Lol, stealth exhaust that makes little difference, and same for the ecu.

And an itg panel filter :clown:

No not standard, that laps a 1.21/1.22 by my reckoning.Havent been again yet but should duck into the 1.19's now as ive reduced weight and removed o.e suspension and fitted coilovers.

So, I'm intrigued, breakdown where your 9 seconds comes from?

Line?
Brakes?
Tyres?
Engine?

I had that sort of time difference at Rockingham between me and a well driven Honda powered Elise (to be expected) - I'd have thought I'd be on a par compared to a ZS180.

You would be on a par with a standard zs 180 ,i did 1.29 on my first visit with just breathing mods but my cars not a standard zs 180!
I have a lot of experience on track tbh,i used to have race karts and used em every week so i learnt a thing or 2.
Apart from that i have a higher power to weight ratio and a more modified car ,the time is made up all round the lap from later braking ,faster through the apex's ,earlier on the power exiting ,faster acceleration etc ,its not one thing its multiple factors that when all added up make a decent lap time.

Tbh ive been on track with many elises and exiges and theres only been one i couldnt keep up with ,it was an elise and it had a supercharged honda civic type r engine conversion,so my car does have real pace.

Yeah come on tell all...what's yours running?

I know what you mean about the technique and lap strategy though. What I've changed over the last two years since I really started focussing, practicing and learning has made a massive difference.

You've just illustrated very nicely that I still have SO much to learn though :)

Peperami, yes i have already posted my car is modified,it only makes 210 bhp but it weighs less than a standard 172 cup, last time i had it on the weighbridge it was 1020 kilos ,ive since removed about another 25 kilos.
Big ,but lightweight all alloy v6 motor with 180+ lb ft torque in a shell with nothing but a carbon fibre seat inside ,makes it fairly quick.

im going to combe in may with trackmasters (stormy from scoobynet) come along if you want ,or i could get your name on the list ,i think its 149 quid.
Ive been with em a few times and they a good bunch ,good organisation and good driving standards.

heres one o my vids if your interested.
Silver elise was running track tyres and pushing 170 bhp through a tweeked k series ,the exige was a 220s model and i was right at the edge trying to hang on to him ,there was a 190 vvti exige there too and that one i could just beat,(got vid of that too) .
My car was on standard brakes apart from pads and standard suspension apart from springs ,this is at donington park earlier this year .
