£10k is probably a slight exageration, Im guessing your cup is worth around £5k a new 197 Cup is £13k so around £8k to change.
They are great cars, handle excellently, the build quality is much, much
better and they look great. However it will be a touch slower than your 172 and the fuel consumption appears to be between 25-29mpg based on what people on here are getting which is obviously less than what you get now. I wouldn't say don't do it, I just think for the additional outlay it won't provide as much fun as your 172 cup.

Back on topic though - great cars. Feel so very sure footed, but not in a boring way, the chassis still feels alive. The brakes are pretty much the best certainly I've ever experienced on a road car, and I've driven the odd fairly high end motor (shame none of them were mine heh!). Way better than even the 4 pots on the Vee imho. I'd be controversial and choose not to have the Recaros, mainly because I found them a bit hard - and I have a bad back heh. Also, a few too many reports of them wearing badly for my liking...
You probably wouldn't have any more fun than you can in your Cup, but you'll also probably be quicker point to point or on trackdays if that's your thing. Also, as others have said, the interior is in a different league.
Really you'd have to weigh it up, drive one, see if you fall in love with it

don't bother with any ov these pap sorry i meant jap cars, my friend imported one ov these ek9's and blabbed on about wot he wud do to my 182!! the clio destroyed him round corners and once i hit 5000 rpm i started pullin well away from him!! stik wit the french m8

You sure it was an EK9; they really are good cars.

Was there anything special about that one? Or was it standard? I have to admit, it looked bloody mint! But, I wasn't 100% on the standard dash, but that's just me and like all the comforts.
Being the first cup I've seen in real life, I have to say it looked sexy. The spoiler and splitter etc helped.

My Ph1 172 is dead even all the way from 0 - top speed with two of my mates DC2s. The EK9 type r's are supposed tobe a tad slower than these so maybe the same speed as a full fat??
Anyway very little in it either way.
Surely if 13k was on the cards for a 197 you could get a DC5. Same speed as a 172 ph1 / cup low down and a little more top end. And lets not forget they look absolutly fantasic, imo of course

A decent dc2 is a better car than a 172, 172 cup, 197 etc etc. If it's an option, get that, 98 JDM spec.
