I just wire brushed mine and used brake cleaner on them, then used halfords caliper paint (1 part) to paint them. Needed 2 or 3 coats to get a good covering. Takes a while to dry each coat.

Personally I think silver calipers look boring (but if you like subtle then it does smarten the car up), and did mine red, so mine must be tacky lol....

I did have anthracite wheels on my 182 cup at the time and they looked nice hiding behind the big spokes. Got Super t's now and they look even better.

No need to remove them at all, you can do just as good a job with a paint brush leaving them on the car.

If you havent already had the calipers off it may be a good idea, then you have done 2 jobs at once.... when your pads need changing you know how to do it!

^ you think i'm going to change brake pads on the vee ? Lol, think again.

I know how to change pads, but there's no way i'm messing around with that car !

There is no need to take the calipers off to paint them up, complete overkill.

I use to mask off the entire wheel arch and just spray the b******s with halfords caliper spray paint. Think next time ill just use hammerite and a brush.. seems like less mess. Same with drums!

Sod spraying them up, a brush is a lot easier to use & more accurate :)

How does this affect the cooling of the caliper given that you are coating it in an insulative material i.e paint?
Does it cause any issues re brake fade?

will need wynns brake and clutch cleaner and a stiff wire brush to remove all gunk and flaking rust etc (if any). they just apply hammerit in required colour with a .25/.5" brush.

i gave mine 3 coats and then leave to dry over night.

the best way to do it i found was to remove brake pads then feed newspaper round your disc to prevent any shyte getting on them.

hope this helps
