cracked rear disc!!!

  b/g 182, meg tourer
had a vibration noise coming from the car for the last month. i was checking it every day as the noise was always appearing when braking at motorway speeds, i couldn't find any sings of damage or over wearing etc. had a service and mot and it passed with flying colours. a few days after the mot the noise was getting considerably worse! it was vibrating at any speed over 30mph when braking and all the time over 60mph, even when not braking! when i stopped i checked the rear brakes again to find 3 big cracks in the disc!

i didn't drive the car until the new discs and pads arrived, it looked totally unsafe. thanks to k-tek for sending my new discs so quickly! :)

i have hear a few people on here mentioning a simelar noise... check your discs! it could have been very dangerous if it had gone un-noticed.

why do they crack? can't be due to heat and that one doesn't look too bad otherwise - is it just poor materials?

yeah, it is as simple as that...

£200 later

and why did they crack in the first place? 4 years old, pads and discs were within legal limit

200quid!!!!
where u gettin em from??
Someones havin ur trousers down
Not sure why they have cracked. It cant be heat lol

rear discs inc bearings and abs rings £175.08 + postage costs from k-tec
brake pads £15 from halfords

that's about £200.
where can you get the discs with bearings and abs rings cheaper then?

obviously yo can use a non abs disc with no bearings, press the old bearings and abs rings on. but thats a lot of hassle and i was advised against it.

Got quoted 120 quid from a motor factors all in with all the bits. Having said that i am getting them trade. Try some local motor factors?? Sod the original reno stuff. The original reno discs will be made by some other company anyway and not reno so buying them from ktec or reno is just adding another lump to the price. Worth trying :)
