gaz vs H&R coilovers

  clio rs
there seems to be a big price differerce - are the H&R really better or are we just paying for the name.

The gaz aren't even worthy of mentioning in the same sentence. H&R are far superior and well worth the money. If you are uprating suspension and only have Gaz money personally I'd buy an uprated damper and spring kit rather than buying poor low end coilovers.

Can't really argue with that.

*about to get lynched no doubt*

I've got Gaz coilovers - cost 465/470 or something like that. Can't really fault them. I've had a kit car, a 205 gti on Avo adjustable, a Vts on Koni adjustables, and the Clio is much better then all but the kit car.

The ride is fine with the damping just under halfway, and you can make it almost completely solid at it's hardest setting, or much like standard on the softest. Height adjustment is easy too.

What's not to like?

Glad you're happy with them, but you're very much in the minority of GAZ owners that I've spoken too. Nothing wrong with the company, very well respected, just seems the clio kit is gash.

cheap build and poor coating ive heard. Wont last. Cheap seals no doubt. just a wild guess due to the fact that they are fairly chep. There must be something missing???? Usually poor damping and rebound on cheaper equipment.

what are LEDAs like? kinda on-topic. lol
Some people rave about them, some people don't rate them. I think people should try and have a ride in a car with the suspension they are looking at, different people want completely different things from cars.

Ave got gaz coilovers and am happy with them, never tried anything else on the clio so carnt compare them to H&R etc. No a few lads who use Gaz coilovers on all there rallycross cars so the carnt be that bad

You rate them then? If I can't get mine sorted I may be getting some for the 172.

I bought two sets and they aren't exactly cheap so I think it's safe to say I do, lol

Same here. Had a set of Gaz for my 172 Cup. Lasted a month. Went through x2 rear dampers (seals failed), they are noisy, clunky and ruin the car. I replaced them with some H&R's, and they were in a different league. If you value the ride quality with a nice drop, H&R all the way. I like em so much, i've had 3 sets. X1 for the 172, x1 for the 182, and now some for my 197.

looks like i should stick to finding sum H&Rs - i know sum1 selling gaz coilovers for £400 posted - but abit put off after this tread, cant spend all that money & they dont last, that dont make any sense to me.

I have Gaz and they've been fine. To be honest everyone who has had bad experiences with gaz seem to be from before, maybe they have been revised
