  MX5 1.8
tbh id wanna make full advantage of the market now id say mate... everythings is going for cheap as chips!!! you can always pay monthly with insurance, keeps your financial/money organized

  RB 200 Cup!
just keep trying loads of insurance companies -someone is bound to get a lower quote than that

plus wtf is a pug gti cossting more to insure than a 182?

  Scirocco GT 2.0
anything over 1k insurance is a no!

and im 23 soon!

+1 i'd never spend me than 1k on insurance out of principal. It's a complete rip off. Profiteering FTL.

I'm just going to wait a year or 2 til i'm 20/21 and get something like a Golf GTI or a BMW 3 Series then.

I'd say shop around and go for it. Balls to waiting untill your 21 may aswell enjoy your hard earned cash while your young and don't have responsibilities etc

My insurance has always been over 1k until now. Depending on your budget , but 1.5k is an ok upper limit any more than that and its alot tbh. Look at 106 gti or C2 etc.

I agree also!

First two years of driving I was ripped paying around £1,500 (and that was on a group one insurance car!) but would never consider paying anywhere near that now... I'm 24 now btw.

+1. at my dads garage an 18 year old boy bought in his 05 plate honda civic type r that he bought on his credit card. he went round a corner too fast and spanked it into some railings writing it off. he was insured 3rd party and he got £1000 back for it when my dad sold it for pieces.

What about a ph1 172 insure it tpft, i know people think its a waste of money but they're so cheap now its hardly even worth claiming for them the ammount your insurance goes up .

  clio 1.2 16v
JUST DONE ANOTHER ON GOCOMPARE.COM:

on a 2001 plate clio 172 = fully comp : £3946 < insurance is more than the car :S..

3rd party = £2608 .

looks likes no 172 uuntil i am at least 21

it only cost me about £900 to insure my 206 gti when i was 19 so you must be able to get cheaper quotes somewhere

Never heard such b****cks in my life.

There an Insurance Group 16 mate, i highly doubt you would get a quote cheaper than £1800 third party.

Waste of money? f**king 1.2 thats a waste of money:mad:

At 18 I paid £1300 fully comp as a named driver on my 1.6 205 GTi. I loved that car though. It was awesome. If I'd have waited a whole week though I could have insured it in my name for £1200, but a week with my shiny red little toy sat outside looking at me.... No chance! ha ha.

At 23/24 I paid £1400 fully comp on my Jap import Mazda RX7 twin turbo.

At 25 for my UK Mazda RX7 twin turbo I was paying about £500.

Now at 28 on my 172 with a couple style mods declared. £397 fully comp. :)

So it looks like for decent prices you have to wait till you're 25. Sorry to break it to you but you're going to be paying through the nose for insurance for a while yet. As some said though if you wait till you're 20 and get a 197 should be a bit cheaper, the 197 is group 15 as well against the 16 for the 1*2's. :)

If I was young again I'd look at some of the deals on new cars with insurance chucked in. Seem the best value to me. Pay monthly and give the car back after 3 years.

  Clio Dyn 1.2
these cheaper to insure bland ?..

im getting the 1.8T gti MK4 Golf as my next car, ill be 19, 2 years no clames. the quotes i have been getting are £1500 fully comp, parents as named drivers on my own policy. 1.8t comes with 150 BHP, revo remap to 207bhp, so its a tidy car! and as the car market stands atm, you should be able to pick up a nice golf, for a reasonable price!

I ment people say that tpft insurance is a waste of money. Also a 1.2 is a means of getting from A to B not a waste of money.

I'd be happy to pay £1800 tpft on a 172, if i could get insurance for that price i'd go out and buy a ph1 today. Unfortunately i'm going to have to wait for my 1yrs ncb next august to get that price.
