yeh no reason not too would be cool. Is the signal still ok that close to the roof panel? check first. should be ok, but just incase.

would be a bulky thing to put in a sun visor. if i had a spare tom tom to play around with, it'd take it apart, extend the wires from the circuit board, put the "computer" part away somewhere (maybe roof) and then just have the screen in the sun visor. the only problem i can see with it is having the screen so close to your face, it would distract you, and also in the night it would make your face light up. theres some kind of law that says you cant have a light on in the car that would distract you or other road users.

No because it would be stupid. Where excatly is that turn? i'll just glance to my garmin, oh s**t its in the sunvisor ,looks up, ahh yes there it is. Look down oh s**t -bang.

Best place for a satnav is on the screen. Enables you to glance at your route without taking your eyes of the road.

Thats like saying the rear view mirror should be on the sreen! There is a pic on here of one in a sunvisor, i try and dig it out!

i dont think many thieves would look in ur sunvisor for the sat nav, they usually look out for a mark on the screen where ist been stuck on. i keep a microfiber cloth in the car so when i have been using the nav i wipe the mark off left by the sucker thing.

it wouldnt be distracting in the sun visor. its nearly in your line of vision when driving anyways. more than looking down towards the dash.

i think im going to have a play when i pick my sat nav up.

like the pda install, thats one i saw before that gave me the idea. only problem is where the power button is on sat navs, would be awkward switiching it on and off.

Fpmsl !! If it was, renault would have had a load of compalints from people crashing.

Factory sat nav is the top part of the dashboad (the screen for it would be under where the model car is)

Putting it up there is plain daft imo, i'll state the obvious. How are you meant to see it ??

That was before i realise it was a pda, my bad! I do agree it does seem to reduce forward vision a bit , whats wrong with a map book people?

I used mine in this position for quite along time and I had no problems, if anything the sat nav improved my driving as I could see the road layout ahead and see how tight the next bend was.

^ surely you having to tilt your head back to see it was a pain in the backside ?
With it on the windscreen it's where your looking anyway, so no need to take your eyes off the road.

yes, it was a bit strange to start with, but I got used to it. Didnt have to tilt my head much, but was always wondering about the legality of having the sunvisor down all the time.

I also loved the fact that you didnt have to remove anything from the car as it was completely hidden.

Sorry, but is sort of on topic, I have an Ipaq with Tom Tom for sale if anyone is interested. It does need to be hardwired though or needs a new battery as it seems to not be retaining charge, but works fine if hardwired! I like the look of it in the sun visor, although not too sure about practicality.

i dont have to tilt my head back to see sun visor. just my eyes :)

as for the night and the glare, i know on tom tom there is a night settng and you can turn brightness down i think.
