hard to do it myself aye?

dont do it too dark, it'll look chavvy/like a van

wouldn't reccommend doing it yourself from what i've heard

If you do, do it have very light tints all round and make sure you get someone very good to do them clio windows are extremly hard to tint due to the back window being very round and the rear windows being hard to get at for a proper mint job that will look the part id set aside £250. You can do them yourself but it will not come out very good and you will be able to see its film ive tinted loads of cars and me and my mate whos a professional tinter had abit of a mare on my clio.

It is illegal to the law and to VOSA yet during an MOT check, the technician can only advise on the tint being to dark, not actually fail a car on them being too dark.

However, VOSA and the Police can either fine you or make you remove them at the side of the road if they feel necessary.

Only if they are above the legal requirement , something like the front windows should allow 90% of light to pass through .

any tint (more than factory) is illegal on the front window
if you have a 43R stamp on your window its already been factory tinted,
my mate put a 35% tint on a factory tinted window (aprox 10%)
and when he got pulled over, it was letting 30% light throught.

you can get 3 points per window for front tints,
they do it all the time where i live.
id leave them standard tbh, think tints look chavy

The previous owner of my car tinted the back 3 windows, want to get them removed. Makes it dangerous when im reversing in the dark

Front tints are not illegal.

Pre 1990 cars are aloud to run dark tint on the front windows.
There after there is a limit of a 10% front per front side windows and 0% tint for windshields or front mounted windows.
Back windows have no limits you can rattle can them if you want.

My advice is to have tints done with light smoke tint all round you will be fine at night as it lets around 75% light in and the chances of getting pulled for them are very slim.

The penalties of window tints on the front above the legal limit can vary most common are.

Police:
*Lazer light test
*Instant removal at point of stop by the office in charge for saftey reasons
* you can get 3 points per window as it comes into the dangerous brackett like bald tyres.

VOSA:
*Its an MOT advisory as they cannot check the light admission at most stations
*They can ask it to be removed before they pass it though - as i believe

Like all modification its a bit of a minefield very grey area modfied motors, most traffic police will just advise you as they do not have the know how or kit to start pointing section 59s, points and removal warnings

Sorry if any info is not spot on

Industriel de greaser or autoglym intensive tar remover are very good for it.

Pre soak with cloth
Use blade to remove then finish off with waterd down white sprit

will speed things up alot

Cheers for the tips, will bare this in mind when I get round to doing it.
