Solid? Hmm... doubtful

Uprated items can be bought from K-Tec... but they're harsh. Vibrating dashboards etc

Have you adjusted the dogbone?

you can get a set of really stiff (may be solid) mounts from yozzasport.....

:goes away and checks:

nope no longer available. Presumably becuase they were about £1100 for a set and no1 bought them

If you are going for a stiff dogbone (best place to start) keep an eye on the threads in the hole where it connects to the gearbox. They've been known to strip out the first few.

Engine banging?

Change your driving style or tighten/replace standard mounts.

We have our new mounts on our own car and on a customers car and there are certainly no rattling dashboards. Where did you get that from?

My old Ph1 used to have "uprated" mounts before i changed them for OE.

When slipping the clutch to move in traffic it used to vibrate the dash/control surfaces. :S

We have only had them available for the past few weeks and we have not sold any yet as our first batch is due in at the end of next week.

The mounts you had on your ph1 were obvioulsy not ours.

David.

grr how many people have actually had first hand experience of the ktec mounts ? not many i bet - sheep

  clio 172
how much are the k-tec versions?

i drive slow! i just drive from roundabout to roundabout on the way to work. it really pisses me off when you come up to a blind roundabout, and roll off the throttle untill you see a gap....and then you gun it again and BANG! everytime!

does me head in..had the 1 under the battery replaced..which stopped it for a week...now the other side is doing it...and cant be arsed with going round in circles replacing them...wanna sort it for good!

We should have some new pics on the site next week. In the rush to try the new mounts we fitted them without taking any pics

Just fit full new oem engine mounts it will drive like a new car without the banging

  53 Clio's & counting
iv replaced all 4 mounts on mine and i still get engine movement, for example i get the banging when scrabbling for grib/pulling away fast, but also if i take a corner fast and the weight moves around or over a bridge when you feel the car settle bk down, you feel the engine move too(and a small clunk) if that makes any sense, maybe k tecs mounts might stop this?

fitted poly bushes to the dog bone on mine and renewed the other three mounts a little while ago and, whilst it does improve things, there does still seem to be quite a bit of movement.

be interested to hear how the KTEC mounts feel. i had a set of GpN mounts on my last car and, as well as notably improving the shift, they also slightly sharpened turn-in. vibration was the downside, although that was a given, as they were identical to the OE mounts, just using harder rubber

I never said they were, David :S

Yours look good from what i can see though, a good compromise.

If your engine mounts are okay id just uprate the dogbone. i bought 1 from k-tec the other week and it makes an amazing difference. you do get very slight vibrating through wheel when idling. but apart from that nothing it seems to be doing it less now may be settling in?

afraid not.. i have experienced that the knocking (only when wheelspin !) does'nt go away with new mounts all round !

i replaced 3 of the mounts and found that two were shagged but i still get some knocking just not as much

Engine mount threads always seem to be a touchy subject.

From being a ''sheep'' lol there appears to be a lot of mixed views. The ones who rate them all seem to quote ''track'' in their posts which dosent clear up what their like on the road

I've got a full set of Diesel Kangoo Van mounts to go on my Cup project which are a good bit stiffer by all accounts to deal with the torque/weight of the diesel lump.

Also fitting a polybushed dog bone, however will be helicoiling the gearbox mounting point and using a couple of grades higher bolt to be on the safe side.

Hoping that lot ought to see things pretty sorted.

Cheers

Have had no problems so far with the k-tec/turbotechnics solid top mount I fitted last weekend. All knocking, that I had been having, is now gone.

There is quite a bit more noise in the car though which I am going to try and reduce by putting a thin layer of rubber between the mount and the chassis, as has been tried by another member on here.

Yes, the car vibrates more. I only seem to notice it at idle.

That's a good find there ! Would they (Kangoo mounts) be a straight swap or is modifying needed ?

On average how long do the original top mounts last?

And aren't the K-tec top mounts made by Compbrake? Compbrake ones are about £60

Be good to know the Kangoo top mount part numbers - any mods for fitting these or do they go straight on? Cheers
