got fluid there to change it just not had the time and dont want to go do it if its something else, as it was fine 1 minute then went to brake and they were gone!

could it have sucked air in the system if fluid was low?

lol, seized caliper slider maybe. That was my spongey problem anyway.

it sounds like master cylinder failure but you may as well go through and do the cheap jobs (like changing the fluid) first, to see if it isn't one of those

Mine went weird the other day.

Went to brake and there was nothing there. Since then they've worked but seemed a little off. Not sure if its just me imagining or what tbh.

  mk2 slow. . .
had you just held them on for a fairly long time? maybe going down a hill or something, then went to use it again quickly? could cause it to be spongy. has happened to me before, then drive for a bit without touching it and its back to normal.

sounds alot more serious than all the suggestions i've seen so far...

firstly, brakes dont just get air in the system just like that...

assuming you have checked the fluid level, was it low, dont mean a bit below minimum im talking empty???

if no,, the fact that the diagnostic light is on when braking i'd say an abs fault.. pump running constantly or something

Could be something to do with the vacuum pump for the servo seeing as its a diesel? and as its throwing the injection fault light up.

have never checked the fluid level which is why i assumed it had possibly been so low it had got air in.

the fault light has stopped coming on now but brakes still not working brilliantly.

brakes work fine as normal when you press the pedal really hard, but its spoungy before that.

not had time to take it apart yet as i work in retail and its not our quietest period of the year LOL!!!! plus not got the car atm because its in the bodyshop getting front end resprayed
