The Mk1 Astra is lovely ;)
Hats off to you my friend.

AngelWorks install looks very very clean & tidy.
Does that run OEM ECU?
Can you retain A/C with the ITB kits?

Not OEM ecu, no.

Can you retain Aircon? Yes, if you want to squeeze it in and have a pointless ITB install, or have a rather thick wallet to allow you to keep aircon without compromising the ITB install.

Pointless ITB install with aircon!!! Get a grip son!!
I will admit i am getting rid of the aircon but work perfectly fine with it.

why does keeping the aircon make throttle bodies pointless?

My thoughts exactly?!?! Ok you cant run the sausage type filter and have to have those horrible socks which i will be soon getting rid of but the car as it is, is fine. It works. End of. Someone please explain (ben r)

Socks are bad idea but then any filter gives losses to some extent. I used to run mine without a filter with no problems short term, it is risky for foreign bodies aswell as particle damage within the combustion system and valve train so not advised really.
What is that stops you running the sausage filter? the aircon pack at the front? can't you drop it down out the way?

No you need to get rid of aircon either using the 172 cup setup or im using the volvo setup and then get a shorter rad. Job done

The pump is in the way. You can run AC, but why would you? You're adding ITB's for power, and by that you want the most power available to you at that time.

You lose a lot of torque midrange and a few hp peak in which EVERYONE says makes a noticeable difference to the drive.

What sort of numbers over what rev range though from hard numbers not speculation? Is it not a clutched compressor? The additional parasitic losses from free running compressor are minimal, therefore with the aircon off it would make an inperceptible difference to the driver.

Keep aircon. Then if worried about power loss.....:

When need is felt to go "braaaaap" - switch it off.
When need arises to get rid of sweaty b****cks - switch it back on.

Job done. No power lost.

That's just a woman's view anyway, not to be taken seriously in any way, shape or form ;)

I m confused about u now....

It's not having it switched on that saps power. The pump is in the way so you have to run shorter trumpets.

entirely the reason a kit's available to keep it ;) :) it's a solution to a problem.

Woo!! I need thas astra in my life!!

Cups looking good Ben, now crack the whip and get it finished!!:rasp:

Fred, Apparently we are having a filter made ben THINKS, going to get a baseplate made and see what ITG can do, there is very little room and he wants it to look good. He will tell you more, i am just his b**ch.:(

As for the radiator, its f**king dear, and if i ever hit a badger, i will cry, for weeks.

Can you fit exactly the same ITB install to an AC equipped car as you can an non AC car? No. Do you lose power because of it? Yes.

As far as i am aware, with AC you can not run the same length trumpets, you need shorter? so torque is reduced due to this??

By the way i am no tuner, so if i am wrong correct me!

I believe you still get pretty good gains though, but i don't need aircon, i have no ABS and no airbag, luxury's, who needs em!!! lol!

I know it's a cop out reply but.....isn't all this down to personal preference at the end of the day? :o

SBV116 - reverie baby, although it'll probably cost more than your rad! my airbox is over £1K now lol! carbon whorage!

Yeah, IMO why have engine work to produce more power but not have it making the most it can? Seems retarded!

and you dont even get to use the fur for your new minky gloves?

Tell me about it!!! Are there no gains from road kill these days? Honestly, In the days gone by a badger would have fed my family for a week, and the fur would have made a fantastic minky sleeping bag liner!

I am going to send ben some fibreglass, lollipop sticks, glue and sponge and tell him to make one for a tenner!!! I will need to sell my ass if it costs much more!

Richard (at Omex) has a set on his own 182, with 90mm trumpets, and still has the AC. Uses it every day :). I've fitted several sets to AC equiped cars

because people like aircon and a bit more ummmmph! I'm one of them, and after a hard day at the un-airconditioned office, its nice to take a stressful journey through north London home without getting even hotter!

absolutely. SBV116s bay looks fantastic, but not everyone want the same aesthetic indulgence. I can appreciate it, but I wouldn't even consider going to those lengths on my own car. There is no one right solution to all requirements.

Come on then, lets see em,

Engine bays with ITB's only! Clio's of course!

will be doing this in april/may to my 172.

Want to see what ive got in store.

These anygood mate, just found them in another thread, couldnt find any of ktecs car from FCS :(
