It funny how the last 2 threads that have mentioned itb's have ended up in a knowledge war.

It's not intended as a knowledge war because it's not a who's know more, i merely wanted someone to explain clearly the logic behind using ITB's and keeping aircon being pointless. I felt it to differ from reality. At the end of the day it boils down to an imperceptible degradation in performance to maintain aircon but allows you to maintain what is to some a valued feature of the car.

If people based there posts on data and fact rather than speculation and opinion then i'm sure there'd be less disagreement in the world ;op

Look at Andy's post just though, he's proved theres a difference, lol.

No where have a said there wouldn't be a measure difference, simply that it's so small it's inperceptible, you couldn't tell 3bhp difference car to car!
it's not about that, i was simply questioning the fact that its pointless to keep it. That statement simply isn't true.

you're being objectionable for the sake of it Dave. if you can feel 3bhp you're doing better than most. you'll get differences like that on hot and cold days

or humidity, christ, i hope you make sure you take a s**t everytime you drive to optimise bhp/ton

Perhaps people are confusing my posts with others. I said it seems retarded to not get the best out of a package you are fitting for performance, then said there is a difference between the kits. None of that is false, it's my opinion and things that others have posted having got the data to back it up.

Could I tell 3hp? Maybe not, so why fit a decat, why fit a cat back exhaust etc etc if that only gains 3hp? I'd rather know I have the best out of what is available to me, thats just my opinion though. If someone wants to keep the AC, do it, but the kit IS compromised to what its potential is, both in performance and aesthetics.

Finally you speak some sense Hudson, If that's you stance fair enough, it's not how it read to me that's all.
I do know where you're coming from as that's why my ECU switches the alternator circuit off under certain conditions and i run a tiny one anyway.

Smaller one=Lighter and gives me room to get to the plenum bolts which are a b*****d to get too.....

sorry got bored after first sentence. You once told me on the phone that bodies will never work properly on an everyday road car due to lots of things including intake temp and the rad being right in front of them. You also said the car would not start properly and should only go for bodies with an airbox type idea which is strange as this is the way u do it so ur going to say that. As for the 'wont work everyday' side of things..... Boll*x. I have them and they work absolutely fine thankyou very much :) car starts everyday whether its hot or cold. Goes like stink. Ok its got crap socks on at the mo but it works fine and makes good power!
Im guessing its just down to how much the company whos fitting them knows and their levels of knowledge!

Sorry to bore you, but I'm going to do it again.

I tell ALL people enquiring about bodies that they simply will not run with the level of sophistication that an OEM setup does. Maybe I'm not telling people what they want to hear, but I'm no marketer.

Do they work on a road car with all to compromises.......qui. Do they work 'properly'.....and properly being the original design intention and the requirements of a good road car...non. This is quite simply the defining factor. Do tyres work filled with water...yes, properly? no. Do DCOE's work on a road car........does a kettle that boils to 80 deg make a cup of tea? etc etc

The 'airbox' your referring to is a plenum.......so that you can keep aircon, the OEM ecu, your dash functions, significantly better cold and hot starting functions, better idle quality, cruise control and dont have to cut your bonnet up.....all with 90% of the gains of bodies. And by your account that should be the ideal solution as you get everything you want, especially since you dont mind about the small and minor loss of power over optimised ITB installs.

I dont even get what the big deal is or what your all argueing about, your all getting worked up over minor issues and are argueing between yourselves......because I'm certainly not getting arguementative.

And I dont think you need to get defensive Andy, nobody is criticising your plug'n'play kit. Its a good solution at a ridiculously cheap price and people should feel lucky that someone has bothered to assemble a kit that is so cheap.

Men.....*rolls eyes*

STINKS of testosterone in here.... ;)

My personal view is I would keep AC, for my own selfish stupid comfort. I wouldn't notice any perceptable power difference in getting rid of it, and well...being a woman, I need pansy s**t like AC

If there are people that think they'd notice the difference then thats fine, I can't really argue, and are they wrong? No. As I said before its completely down to personal preference and taste.

I can notice the difference when I have the AC compressor running in my 172.

But would that make me want to get rid of AC? Like f**k it would lol I must be a pansy too. But then above all my car is a mode of transport. Not a road racer.

I'm thinking of getting this kit aswel and I will defo be going for the option of keeping the aircon as summer in South Africa can get damn hot, and I don't feel like peeling myself off the seats. So ye, obv its gonna have less performance, but every mod on anyones car is done within reason. I want throttles, I aslo want comfort, so I'm going to have a little bit less power, but will end up with exactly what I want in the end. There is always the option of adjusting things for more power later on if I want to..

So where are all the pics then??
