Why are Clio's so expensive to service??

  182 FF Inferno
As per title.

Its quite common on here to see people paying best part of £1k for a service!! How do they justify this?? Its a Clio FFS, not a Porsche!!

To my knowledge, you don't here of CTR owners paying that much (or any other sporty car for that matter)

My cam belts due next year but, due to some of the prices on here the car will be going before then!!

Dont take it to reno is the answer. Its not that bad. Considering the cambelt doesnt have to be done till 60+ thousand miles id hardly say it was expensive, all the time. My mate has just had her 172 cam belt with AC done at reno for 475 quid including aux belt. Try the servicing costs on a seat leon cupra R and youll soon stop moaning lol. 350 quid for oil service every 12 months where as the 182 is every 2 YEARS AT £199!!!

Renault quote a lot for a camblet, but most use a speacialist & pay about half.

The only clio that costs a grand for a cambelt is a vee. From renault it's a lot more.

sometimes "the big one" is more than just a cambelt/aux belt

i've seen some right knackers that have needed all new engine mounts, wishbones, track rods, driveshafts, clutches, box rebuilds etc etc ON TOP of the belts! BIG BILLS!

Maybe but the basic service cost itself is not bad im sure youll admit for a car that has done 60k without any major service costs before that. That is the problem tho as fred says once a clio has done the cambelt mileage its usually when everything starts to need replacing down to wear and tear!!
Lets be honest most 1*2's have had a fairly tough life lol

the answer to this is cos when you take your car to Renault for a service etc they will make a list of things that need doing to the car in the future or faults that they have found and suggest that they fix them for you while they have your car and charge you a huge amount on parts and labour in the process. To me this is wrong and almost use it as scare tactics. Alot of people especially women just pay them for peace of mind just to know that there car is alright. Personally I don't know why people take cars to dealers for a service. Is so easy to do yourself. And all those people who say and moan that it's the only way to get a stamp in your service book!!! SO WHAT??? Just keep all the receipts and diy

Rant over

I think you missing the perspective, its not the norm to have a servicing bill on a Clio of 1k.

Its not even close to some of the costs you can pay on a Porsche as they charge more per hour for labour and the parts are more expensive.

What you will find is that any car with a cambelt and a tight/poorly designed engine bay have a large labour cost to replace it. That includes the 172/182 (aircon models), Fiat Coupe Turbo and no doubt many more.
