Spot welds... removal???

Got some excess weight in the form of brackets in the rear of the cup!

Rivetted then spot welded! Rivetts gone, tried to remove the welds but getting under them with a flattie and hammer but its taking the inner skin with it lol.... Any tips/hints??

Go steady with a drill bit slightly bigger than the spot, only go through the weld though, not material behind it.

you will need special drill bits , spot welds are stupidly strong and you will probs end up meltin a few good drill bits like i did lol , think the propper bits are £12 ish each

Mk1 spot welds were done with a fisher price welder in my case then, gold tipped dormers were fine.

They are the ones you want. If you are using a cordless drill I think you will struggle but I doubt you are.

The slower the better mate nice even pressure.

I have a scar on my wrist where a spot weld drill went in out and back in again!
Doc said he doesn't know how I missed an artery!

Couldn't stich it so I got superglued up!

Take your time!

Cant get behind them to do it mate!! Rivetts need drilling then spot welds drilling!

When people say grind them off, they mean grind straight throught the weld and the bracket. Do that.

Thats why spot-weld drill bits have a flat end, so you dont go through the material behind...

Yeah kev you can just basically sand down the bracket using a grinder until you grind it off completely. That way you may not leave holes
