Refurbing wheels

  PH1 172
I have seen the guide on how to do this and what I would need but I wanted to check with all that have done it before exactly how much of what to buy.....

Primer x?
Paint x?
Laquer x?
240 grit x?
1200 grit x?
Masking tape x?

.....and where the best places is to get it because going by the guide list it worked out near on £80 from Halfords and I hate shopping there at the best of times lol.

So you reckon 3 large primer cans, 3 paint cans and a couple of laquer cans will do the job? Cheers for the post will have a look

All the paints and shizzle added upto over £50 for my wheels, looked good for about a month. I've just had them done properly with two pack paint and lacquer, should last forever and for £140 all in.

I took my time with the refurb, but it just wasn't tough enough, I'd never do it myself again.

Even with 2 pack it won't last forever, brake dust and road salt are paint killers. Powdercoating is a far more durable finish for wheels.

accepted, they won't last till the end of time, but i prefer two pack to powder tbh. Mate used to work for a powder coaters and spray stuff for me and others, Didn't find it that hard wearing either and was less keen on the finish. He was a good coater too btw.

I just bought 4 sheets of both wet n dry paper (already got some more if needed but), 3 large cans of paint, 3 large cans of primer n 2 large cans of laquer from halfords to do mine this weekend. Was only £57.

Well I'm not being funny but they must have used some s**t powder. I've neglected mine for almost 2 years and they still look like the day they were done.

Thanks for the replies, only doing it myself as they are only going to be used for track so not bothered about how long they will last for, like I would if used on the road everyday. Will go with the quantities above and see how it goes this weekend if I have time.

Cheers for the offer but already have the track wheels to play with :)
