loose exhaust springs

tightened up the exhaust bolts to the maximum and still the spring is loose and can be turned round by hand.
its a new exhaust fitting kit from k-tec.
as the bolts themselves aren't threaded all the way you can only do them up so far....any reason other then i've been sent wrong springs?

What do you mean by loose? Rattling around loose or play ?

Have you put a new mesh gasket in?

I got sick of the spring kits and just permanently bolted the fecker up. 2 years and never had a prob.

Yep fitted all that came with the kit. Took it completely off and the refitted it and i've got it tighter to the point the spring is now no longer able to spin by hand. However my exhaust it still blowing... Had a think and could a worn engine mount cause the exhaust to blow? Thinking along the lines of under accelaration more movement may compress the top half of the spring thus the bottom half not sealing and exhaust being blown out. Does/would this be possible?
The car is not a daily drive and I've noticed knocking (as in engine movement) whilst driving.

You do know the springs arent meant to be completely tightened up solid, the idea is the joint has flex in it otherwise you'l be cracking the exhausts welds all the time, If its still slack i have used a washer in the past on them

i know there not supposed to be solid but there also definately not supposed to be so loose that your able to turn them by hand.
there now tight enough so there unable to turn by hand but you can still compress the spring slightly by hand if you push on it.
i'll have a drive and then recheck whether the springs are once again loose, if so i'll pop a washer on it as you've suggested.
thank you for the advice:)

Another thing i did because it slackened off is used one of the old nuts on it too, To act as a locknut :)
