blu ray player wanted... opinions!

ok want a blu ray player for the lounge, now do i go stand alone, or do i go for a ps3? had a look on av forums and people seem to say that the ps3 is worth it just for the extra features...

is there any really good deals on atm?? on a ps3 or a standalone?

anyone help?

Depends if you want to play games mate...

I've got a Sony S350 and I love it (very quiet capable machine). The S360 can be had now for as little as £150...

As I already had an xbox I didnt see the point in spending more for somthing I wouldnt use...

i already have a 360 already, and tbh i dont really play that many games but its nice to have it there for occasional use im just thinking it might be worth it for occasional use

can the ps3 play .avi's off of a usb stick? my xbox doesnt seem to want to anymore? sure i read that there was a firmware crackdown or something that stopped .avi's being played on xbox cos of piracy etc...

Yes, it also has xvid and DIVx support.

I have my external hard drive plugged into mine with all my movies and music on

Blockbuster have a Samsung 1580 with 3 Blurays for £130. Also a Sony 360 with 3 Blurays for the same price.

Also Asda are doing the Philips BDP3000 for £97 (see thread further down)
