My Project, Clio DCi65

Car  Clio 2001 Diesel Tractor
Well to start i am a 19 year old lad with a 1.5 DCi 65. I work, i get paid and i spend it on the car. Insurance is dear but lifes a b**ch.

This is where it starts, the day i bought her ONE year ago.

From that it kinda went bad with blue sidelights and 17" wulf race alloys.

4 days after getting the new look, i did the BoyRacer thing and bumped it... oooopss!

Fortunatly the insurance never found out so she was put back on the road with colour coding and a silver grille. (notes parts i bought where NON genuine)

Quite liked the look AT THE TIME, after seeing that the parts did not quite fit i went out and bought genuine parts and had them sprayed, whilst putting Silver Clio 197 stripes and logo on.

Silly i was, then i give my head a wobble and decided to change it. So i bought Clio 182 Cup wheels.

And that where the tables turned, off came the stripes and logo. I then saved up and along came window tints and i quite fancied the idea of white 182 wheels so i had them sprayed.

At this point i was really happy with how it was. Unfortunaltly the car was danced on while i was out for my birthday. Luckily i knew who the lad was and he admitted it was him and coffed up £1600 to have new roof skin and bonnet plus respray. Whilst it was in i came across a Clio Cup race car on Google Images and really took a liking to the design.

And here's my car after explaining and explaing to the body shop and getting funny looks.

And thats the product at the end really, need to change the colour of the grilles and i really want to lower it.

Under the bonnet i started by fitting a K&N induction kit (made it really loud) and then givving it to my mate Wayne at Chipwizards who made a custom file for it based on its performance on a rolling road and a tweak here and ther. That lifted the little tractor engine from 65bhp to 90.8bhp, after that i moved onto buying a DCi 80 intercooler off Ebay which still isnt fitted because its a pain in the bottom. I also bought a DCi100 turbo from ClioSpares and that is fitted, the plan is to take the litle tractor to 110bhp through having the intercooler, turbo and a full remapp again from Chipwizards. So its not finished but i am after a yellow 182 cup next soo see what happens.

Comments and opinions are welcome good or bad, people do have mixed opinions. I've heard them all but graet when you come back with £35 a year road tax and 50mpg With a heavy right foot! :rasp: All at the age of 19 and to be honest i love my tractor powered Clio. :approve:

but it looks a bit of a showcar paint job on a non show car. so bit of a fail for me. paint it all one color again.

I'll agree it's not a show car but if i sprayed it one colour would'nt it been the same has the rest?

You do see cars with black bonnets and black roofs, to be honest i think its a better combination least its not looking like fake carbon fibre.

that white doesnt go with the blue if it was black it mayb would but each to there own mate GL with the car

Started by you chavving it up, then it started improving with the 182 wheels, then the white happened and it's just awful :(

It improved because it had 182 wheels right? but thats jus making it look like somthing its not. to be honest most of the people on here are only interested if its a SPORT or if it looked like a SPORT, im not about that my next car will be a 182 cup whats the point making a diesel look like a sport.

^ Not necessarily mate, Its just that it looks so miss-mashed its got no sense of direction, Youve taken a diesel car with a non sport look to it, And put some racing style paint job on it with sprayed grilles and sport wheels.

I think if youd have got a sport kit on it, Lowered it made it look like a track sl@g then you could have pulled off the racer look, But then again its still a diesel!

Some lowering would do it some good, Then personally id take it back to standard, Colourcoded. Looked quite nice and subtle then..

All just my opinion.

not really true mate, people on here go with smll subtile mods, keeping the origional look of the car without going OTT which most on here will think have done.

in ways i think its over the top yea its a road car and its diesel, not really a big boys toy, and there are things im not kean on...

wheels being white - took time to get use to maybe back to grey yet dno
the yellow badges - really gone off them maybee standard chrome i'll go back to

the cars changed alot different looks and this probably is not the last look, but i think ill keep the white, i've liked it every second its been on

Thats all that counts mate

I appreciate you trying to be different but the White besides from being tacky makes it look as if it's supposed to be fast, which unfortunately it isn't. Even the sports aren't that quick.

I think you will find a lot of members on here do appreciate a well modded non sport clio (myself included as my first Clio was a 1.4)
hope I haven't offended you mate just voicing my opinion.

I don't like it, but it's your car. Too many people on here are looking for their next chance to put down another member tbh. As Tunst has said, if you like it then don't let anyone say any different.

I think lowering would be a next step btw!

its good to see something different, fair play mate, i did the same at 19...had a saxo furio (mango) and did a white theme on it, loved it at the time, no one else had anything close to it.

I agree totally, its basically because its not a sport and because renault did'nt do a car like it. lowering it is the next thing before i sell it and get a 182, but its hard tranna find springs for it with it being a diesel..

And i don't take offence, just think some comments are a bit silly, its not a 182 i dont want it to look like a 182 and its alot better than when i bought it.

exacly the same, i know about 7 people with clio's non are diesel and non are has mad has mine haha love it

DCi's use the same springs as fitted to 1.4-2.0

i was told dci springs were 40mm lower thn petrol ones, or maybe thats the 1.2's not sure, i have 35mm lowering springs because they was really cheap but says 1.2 1.4 1.6 was'nt sure if they'd fit. Need to come on here more often :) thanks

thats nothing to do with it mate as said people on here enjoy looking at a well modded non sport as well as a well modded sport

When you said-

'then i give my head a wobble '

Are you sure it was your cranium?? Im sorry but that is a mess.

i also forgot to ask how u manage to crash?

Me and my mate had a bump, called it 50/50 both in the wrong. Wrote his van off jus shattered the plastics and bent the bonnet on mine. Dear buuying the parts though.
