I changed spark plugs and when I turn engine on it revs up to the red, if I would have let it that is. What have I done?

On a dead line to leave and missus ain't happy

You've got an air leak on the inlet manifold I expect. If its a 182 you've not got cable throttle so its not that jamming anywhere.

Take it all apart and put it back together again. Properly.

182 doesnt have a cable throttle, as above it could be an air leak or something isnt bolted down tight enough.

Sounds like you haven't put the seal back on thats on the underside where the coil pack is. Its shaped like a rain drop made of rubber.

Thanks all, cheers fred. It was that oval ring that had fallen when I took it apart. Crisis averted!! Car is running fine again

Don't go anywhere though, fitting my cat tomorrow.

Whats this seal do? i often question it? i look at it and think 'right thats defo got to be sealed, if so why is it there?'
