The screen is void of the etched identifier, a prototype cetainly wouldn't have been allowed outside of the labs without this and it definately wouldn't have been authorised to go out prior to a product announcement.

Its either total crap or somebody is sweating on their job.

I cant see how it could be such a huge departure from the current design.

Those volume buttons are what stands out for me.

I dont think they would risk changing the case too much cuz of all of the aftermarket stuff available.

Altho i imgaine the case material will change cuz of all the problems they have had with the plastic.

I'd settle for some extra bulk on the case design if it allowed much improved battery life from a larger battery.

Well if you look at that, its extremely thin. Much thinner than the current 3G/S

Some blogs are saying it may just have a metal rim, with the rest of the case being made of plastic, ceramic and glass.

I don't believe what Engadget have found is the final product, but i do think the final product will sport a similar form factor.

As David said though i'll be getting it whatever it looks like or does lol

Or the joy stick broke entirely. I've still got a K750i as an emergency phone. Battery is pish, the back cover no longer stays on - except with sticky tape! Powered by win.

If this was a genuine mistake i.e someone did really leave it there and it was not 'acquired' elsewhere then heads are going to roll at Apple PMSL! I quite like the look of it personally.

Is it possible at all on any level that apple meant to 'lose' this phone?

Only reason i can think of why they would do this is to get a wider opinion on the phone? Or is that a stupid idea?

just seems a bit strange that an iphone would be lost and conveniently fall into the hands of someone who would plaster it all over the internet?

I'm not 100% convinced that this will be the final look. I can't see Apple having joins around the bezel for starters. Any chance this a 'fake' leak? Could it not be a dressed up proto? A diversion?

Its possible its not the final design, however its April (the phone is launched in june) and this was fully functional up until the point apple remote killed it.

i think it won't be the final design still they may cover over the 'cracks' etc. still even with os4, it's hardly breaking any ground which is a shame (i.e. compared with say new android handsets etc). june announcement dare i say might be moved forward.
