I can't get my head around this.

  BMW E92/Audi S3
My insurance company won't insure me on a BMW 320ci Convertible, a BMW 330ci/d or an Audi TT.

But.. They will insure me on an Audi S4 and an Audi S3? The S4, £1900 and the S3 £50 more than the Megane 225.

I said something about insurance groups and the advisor reckons that insurance groups don't really matter nowadays?

I'm 21 with only 2 years under my belt.
I don't get it? The S4 is a 2.7 Twin Turbo, group 20.

Insurance groups mean s**t all these days mate, people get too hung up on them.

A 225bhp TT is cheaper for me to insure than my 1.7 puma.

8 inusrance groups of a difference.

yeah true insurance groups mean naff all. I have a 1.2 clio and my mate has a 1.6 focus same age, been driving about the same, same insurance company, and his is £40 quid cheaper than mine! Makes no sense, ive heard its something to do with a focus being thought of of more of a family car

Ah, explains the S4 then. 5 door saloon.

I'm pretty happy tbh, I've wanted one since I was little. Just running it would be hard. I will wait it out until I get another job.

Same goes for 1.2 corsa sxi vs 1.6 astra sxi.

The astra will be almost half the price of the corsa to insure.

Bloody news to me. Still quite gobsmacked. As I said, it's definately on the books for some time soon. I'll hold out for one more NCB.

Could it do with the Make of the car too?

May have to get a quote on the 4 door saloon I want then :)

So predictable lol.

More adults drive TT's if you know what I mean, it's not the car a boy racer buys, therefore has been involved in probably a quarter of accidents that a 1.2 sxi or a 1.7 puma have been involved in.

I got an insurance quote for a honda S2000, and it was the exact same price as a ferrari F40. I know which I'd rather have

i think they assess it by how often certain cars have accidents, its likey that for a first time driver, a 1.6 focus will be cheaper to insure than a 1.2 dynamique.

WTF.
I remember a 1.6 Fiesta costing me nearly £4000 on insurance for my first year? So bought an Escort Diesel and got quoted over £2000.

corsa, 106, 206, clio, saxo... imagine how many of them get involved in an accident/written off, its what first time drivers run to as soon as they pass due to 1.2/group 1-2 insurance. If one decided to go for a 1.8 nissan primera, its highly likely their premium would be lower that the cars i mentioned.
