ph2 engine into a ph 1 ?

Is there much messing about to get a ph2 engine in a ph1 or is it possible at all ?

cheers

100% fine as long as you swap the inlets over from the Ph1 engine as the Ph1 uses a cable setup...

Do you already have a Ph1 engine? If so just unbolt the inlets and attach it to the Ph2 engine...half an hours job if that

Yeah mate I have a phuked ph1 and its looking like the cheapest option for me is new engine :( and as a fresh ph1 engine is literally not gonna turn up im checking my options.

I take it theres tons more work getting a 182 lump in ?

I recently found out i have a ph2 engine in my ph1 one difference is the timing belt kits are different the idler pulleys have spacers on the ph2.

Isn't only the throttle body you need to change for the cable operation as the inlets are different on ph1 and ph2.

If the 182 swap is as easy as it sounds I think im gonna go down that road.

Anyone give me a definate answer on this.

cheers

Cable throttle body wont bolt upto the Ph2 inlet, different bolt holes IIRC

With a 182 engine I think you have to swap the breather plate over too that is under the inlet?

You mean a 172 breather (with the sticking up bit) wont fit a 182 rocker cover? Thats what I was trying to get at, as the 182's have them smoothed over dont they?

So simple answer to the OP is dont use a 182 engine and try and swap the inlets, as the 172 Ph1 inlet wont work...

have you sent steve79 a pm , he always has a few low milage 172 engine knocking about , recently sold a 40k mile ph1 lump for £400 or there abouts

the 182 breather plate is longer fella and they're not interchangable between rocker covers

I'm running a K4M breather plate on my ph2 engine as it doesn't have the Carbon Canister hole(running ITB's) and it works fine.
