100% fine as long as you swap the inlets over from the Ph1 engine as the Ph1 uses a cable setup...
Do you already have a Ph1 engine? If so just unbolt the inlets and attach it to the Ph2 engine...half an hours job if that
I take it theres tons more work getting a 182 lump in ?
I recently found out i have a ph2 engine in my ph1 one difference is the timing belt kits are different the idler pulleys have spacers on the ph2.
Isn't only the throttle body you need to change for the cable operation as the inlets are different on ph1 and ph2.

So simple answer to the OP is dont use a 182 engine and try and swap the inlets, as the 172 Ph1 inlet wont work...
phs1 or phs 2 172
the 182 breather plate is longer fella and they're not interchangable between rocker covers
no forget anything 182
172 phs 1 or phs 2 only
easy, straight in no messing
