Are sports cat noisy?

I know decats increase the noise from the exhaust greatly, but what a sports cat? My ph1 172 has has a sports cat plus full stainless exhaust system (can't find a brand) which is how it was when I bought it and the drone at 70mph is terrible once its warmed up! I want to quieten it up without spending much, and without going standard as the rear bumper is cut and as its sunflower, proberly hard to get hold of another.

No, you wouldn't notice a difference between a cat and sports cat noise levels really.

Well thats exactly what I thought but looking underneath and it has a silencer in the middle, if I remember right two. Might try changing the backbox

those silencers may not have many or any baffles whatsoever, get a backbox knocked up for it and explain what sound you'd like

Any idea what Powerflow will charge for a backbox? I think I will go for that, the loudness isn't too bad apart from the drone at lower mid revs

Tbh mate if I was you I'd start from scratch and get a cat back that I like the sound of because after all the chopping and changing you'll be left with an exhaust made up of all different systems and the quality won't be as good.
