Rear cluster problem...

Ive had the pressing the brakes and having the fog light coming on, and fixed this twice the second time i hope for a lot longer with clingy grease and making better contacts...

However my mate has a different problem altogether, im not sure exactly how the sequence goes... but when he brakes the indicators flash...

when hes indicating and brakes... the indicators turn of...

I told him to clean the clusters and hes done so, but now its doing it again and he cant solve it, hes coming to borrow my rear lights to test, and then if all goes to plan he just needs a new set of rear lights.

But im interested to see if anyone else has had the problems and any solutions?

Solved, had not experienced this before myself, the plug that goes into the cluster, i flipped the plastic cover off the top, and pushed down the pins, the last pin each side was making such bad contact it was sparking i believe, the prong on the cluster each side had melted a bit and gone brown, cleaned off the muck, bent the pins so they made more of a connection... then in the male plug pushed the metal prongs down, bit of spray grease and voilà... no more cancelled indicators...

Just in case anyone has the problem doing a search.

Hi Guysy mate, I need your help mate, IM only 18 Dad just passed away, I bought the car as it was in good nik everything worked!, But i left the car in the garage for about 7 months cause insurance was expensive now ive found cheap insurance the problem is the rear lights!, First of all when i brake the right indicator Comes on but the brake lights dont come on only the spoiler one comes on!, When i indicate, it starts flashing In the DASH really fast!, when i check the indicators if there are on, they are not, the number plate light just flashes, Its sooo crazy mate, I believe so that the right hand car rear light plug is Proper Rusty and i cannot remove it so please could you help me mate god will help you! thanks

It will be down to that connector!
First thing to try would be cleaning the connectors up.
If you can't get the connector off at all, the only real option you've got is like Fred says, cut the connector off, chuck the whole bulb holder unit and plug, and wire in a new plug and new bulb holder.

Chop the connectors off, solder on new ones and cover with electrical tape. Bish bash bosh and you're tango

Hi mate thanks for your quick advice, the thing is i dont have an solder! so if i did cut the connectors off and joined the new conector and wires and put on electrical tape will it still work?

Yea it will the deterioration of the pins on the bulb holder, that go into the plug. Could be the earth too.
Its a common problem on Clio's
If you get a new connector, or go to a scrapyard and cut a connector off a car down there, the wire colours will all match, so its just a case of matching up and joining each wire.
Either solder, use crimp terminals, or you could try just twisting the wires together and electric taping up the joins if you don't feel comfortable doing the other options.
