Engine Lights Came On.

Hi guys.

Just turned my car on after leaving the docs and noticed the engine light in the bottom right was on. Drove the 2 minute journey home and parked her up. I turned it back on and it still stays there. The car starts first time and drove fine coming home.

I plugged my RS Tuner in and got these faults.

I know all the airbag ones are from the Recaros (I think) and the Throttle control limit says 'Not a fault'.

What are the other two ? How can i fix these and will they have caused the engine light to come on ???

Any help is appreciated.

O2 sensor fault triggered the engine light i guess. 2nd fault is related to the brake pedal switch afaik. Could be a faulty O2 sensor or damaged wiring.

Just to add, ive checked the oil on the dashboard and it has 4 bars so theres plenty in there!

How do i go about fixing an 02 sensor ?

Don't check it there, they can be really inaccurate, use the dipstick.

Ollie, will it be ok to drive with an 02 sensor fault ? Are they hard to replace ? Where are they located ?

Shouldn't be a massive issue, it'll just run crap.

Sounds like front Lambda sensor to me... (I may be wrong, someone will probably be over soon to correct me). If it is, it isn't a big job, but it's underneath the car.

Ahhh. So the 02 sensor is a lamba sensor ?? Well, my exhaust is blowing like a f*cking jet fan at the moment. Reckon this could be messing somit up ?

My engine light comes on for a few hours or days then goes out. I bought the car knowing this and fully expected to have to change the O2 sensor, but I put it in to MoT with a bottle of Wynn's Emissions Reducer after a fairly hard drive and it made it through the emissions test (albeit just; the lambda reading was on the limit). Fuel economy and power are fine but I'll get round to changing it soonish, but there's no rush.

I looked under the car and TBH the access to the O2 sensor didn't seem as bad as what I'd read on the forums, looked quite straightforward really but I expect I won't be saying that when I come to do it.

Erm Yes! Exhaust leak can cause this

Cheers Pendulumx. Ill take it to the garage now to get the exhaust fixed.

Update.

Ive went and had my exhaust resealed and new clamps put on it. Sounds really quiet now compared and i can already see the better MPG. Feels a tad more nippier to.

How do i use the RS Tuner to turn the dashboard light off?

Anyone ?? Is it possible ??

Plug it in and select clear all faults I think the brake one stays for some reason and probably the air bag faults on yours but hopefully once cleared it should go out, unless some one else knows a different way
