Gutted!!

Well after owning a Cliosport 172 (My first ever cliosport) after 3 miles it bent valve in the head! Yes after 3 miles!

Hadnt even got out of Town Centre and went down to 3 cylinders. Took inlet off on side of road and spark plugs out and the first 1 was wet so hadnt burnt the fuel on that one looked down and you could see a bent valve.

No Warranty on car as it was a Private Sale Sold as Seen....although the Bloke was really good about it and gave some money back for feeling guilty.

Not a great start to life living with a french car

TBH luckier than you think. The seller could have said sold as seen pee off so he must have been a decent guy.

But can I point out in private sales as you said there's no warranty or anything, and you wouldn't even have been able to take the guy to court unless you can prove he knew about the faults in a car andlied about them during the sale. So legally he didn't need to give anything back but top marks for him doing so!

Although seems abit funny the seller was willing to pay up some money, I'd bet he knew something was already wrong with the car IMO

Well i've decided this afternoon to keep it and put new valves in the head this week during the nights

Then start the modding

You doing this yourself?

No offence intended, but do you know what you're doing? I hope so, because there is nothing more satisfying than fixing something yourself. But if you **** it up, you're going to be properly pissed.

These are quite specialist engines, and the cambelt procedure is a nightmare. Have a read around the engine section. Might be worth budgeting for a specialist job

My best mate is a Fully Trained Mechanic and has done 3 or 4 of these Cambelt Procedures on this Engine so we doing it this week and he said he ain't gonna charge me either which is a bonus.....Top Bloke as he is as long as i just give him a Helping Hand.

Not sure what is caused by the problem but it is definatly a Bent Valve as you can see when you look down through where the Spark Plug is on top of the Cylinder.

The main reason is cause it would be a shame to see another ph1 being stripped and broken so i thought i'd repair it.

The Bloke gave me £150 back which will purchase most of the parts i need to repair it so which is a bonus as i dont have to pay for labour

It was Karma for calling it a "Clio sport" (which only comes in a 1.2 and 1.4 IIRC) rather than a Renaultsport (what you actually have)

Im pretty sure that the valve hit the piston but we aint got head off yet so not completly sure tbh
