Netflix to Launch Service in the UK and Ireland for Streaming Movies and TV Shows in Early 2012

LOS GATOS, Calif., Oct. 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Netflix, Inc. (Nasdaq: NFLX), the leading global Internet movie subscription service, today announced it will expand to the United Kingdom andIreland in early 2012, offering unlimited TV shows and movies streaming instantly over the Internet to TVs and computers for one low monthly subscription price.

Upon launch, Netflix members from the UK and Ireland will be able to instantly watch a wide array of TV shows and movies right on their TVs via a range of consumer electronics devices capable of streaming from Netflix, as well as on PCs, Macs and mobile tablets and phones. Further details about the service, including pricing, content and supported devices, will be announced closer to launch.

Netflix has been streaming to U.S. members since 2007, adding Canada in 2010 and 43 countries in Latin America and theCaribbean in September 2011. You can't view what you can stream in America anymore.

But when I looked previously, it wasn't great. Films that are probably about to appear on Sky. Certainly not inline with DVD releases.

It's their back catalogue of TV shows I'm interested in, hopefully we get as good a collection as they have in the US.

I must say having a quick look there isn't much there that will make me pay at the mo, hopefully in time they will get better content.

On looking at the website, maybe not.

The website it self looks like it's from the 90's and so does most of the selection on content.

Its annoying because the price is right, the service is the best implemented out there. But the content is shocking.

Content. There is NOTHING good on there. (South Park, Top Gear and some old SNL stuff at a push)

I'm a bit of a trek fan and was expecting that to be on there as the USA one has everything.
