Hi, does anyone know the size "ID" of the standard pipe (breather pipe) as I'm disconnecting it to add a silicone induction pipe and want to put a little breather filter on! And I havnt any callipers to measure the size.
cheerz
Sod that, search for .. Mini oil breather air filter on eBay. Company called ASH (auto silicone hoses) are top notch. Buy a 15mm breather with hose joiner. £6! I'll confirm and post pics 2moro night.
Lol I dont know what you guys are smoking?
I cut the pipe that goes from the manifold to the plastic breather elbow on the inlet elbow. To check the size I got a 15mm copper pipe out of the van (im a builder) and bingo, it fitted in nice and tight.
I then bought a 15mm Internal Diameter Mini oil breather WITH 15mm OD barbed hose joiner. The joiner was pushed half way into the breather and halfway into the breather pipe, I then secured these with jubilee clips. its a very tight fit and will not be slipping off I can assure you of that!
Although the breather is not directly above the exhaust, I'm going to get a longer hose and direct the mini breather further away and hidden, I like stealth.
its about 2inches to the side of the exhaust but I've got a new hose on the way so I'll be sorted in a week. oil smokes when it hits exhaust manifolds etc doesnt catch fire like most people seem to convey. I only fitted it this morning so It'll take a while to get sodden with oil.
im slightly suprised 13mm was a snug fit without the need for a jubilee clip, I can see how you could fit a 13mm breather with 13mm hose joiner. but I like it to be as big as possible.
next pic will be a vernier caliper in the end of the pipe
Got one on the golf racecar but where the hell am I going to hide one on the Clio (needs to be stealth). These Clio don't pump much out the breather from what I can tell but I could do the old bottle trick just to see.
Matt I'm sure you can use 13mm but as 15mm was a perfect fit thought that would be better that going a size smaller.
