New "Cheap" Big Brake Alternative (Brembo+300mm discs)

  182/RS2/ Turbo/Mk1
Are these aluminium brackets a safe way to mount callipers?

If made correctly yes, and im sure the pure ones are.

Dont forget most of the 4 pot and 6 pot calipers are aluminium anyway, the bracket doesnt need to be any stronger than the mounting point on the caliper.

All depends on the type of aluminium you use and the thickness. These are realy good and strong.
Because the bracket is rather big an thick it should have no problem at all.
As i said, it already survived several trackdays :p
They've already seen a world of hurt there ;)

I see very little value in upgrading the rear brakes, they are restricted to begin with as they are capable of providing so much more braking force than you would ever want on the rear. Unless its just a looks reason you want to do it?

I know the rears don't do much,

but when my rears need changing might as well get bigger ones :)

(I know id need to use the senic rear caliper)
(well if everything lined up okay)

What year senic had the 300mm?
(also what litre?)

Mk1 Laguna/safrane is the rear brake upgrade your wanting if you really must. They are a seperate hub and disk design and are transferable. Everything including stub axles are needed.

Is not going to be sufficient, you need a pretty big offset to get away with these.
FYI anyone doing the math and doesn't want to search: The 16" Turinis on the 172 Cup are ET38.5. The 16" Turinis on the 182 Trophy are ET45 (same as the 16" 182 Cup Anthracite wheel). So the Cup Turinis are like running an 8mm spacer on the Trophy Turinis. All are the same 7Jx16 size.

Our brackets are made of steel not ali. And they fit behind standard Turinis or standard 5 spokes with a 10mm spacer.

Any difference in the pedal travel smokey?

Well i haven't encountered much more travel to be honest.
Was pretty sure i would need to upgrade the mbc before i even mounted them but im going to keep it like this.;)
Maybe the dot 5.1 made a noticable difference but im not an expert on that ?

Unless i come across an absolute bargain for a bigger mbc :)

Has anyone on here ordered the caliper mounting brackets from the company that makes them (motex performance.nl)?

Did they arrive?

I ordered some on the 09/05/2013 which fell on dutch bank holiday week, anyway still no sign and the company isn't the most helpful tbh. Looks like a paypal claim is on the cards.

I dropped them an email a few days ago to chase it and mine turned up that very day!

They were helpful with my enquiry

Ok thanks George at least they are legit then;)

Don't get me wrong they are helpful but not enough! Especially after nearlly a month. I have been in contact near enough daily for 2 weeks. At the end of my teather with it now lol...
Have you fitted the brembos yet? Any good/problems?

Have to get some other grease on the pads so they squeek a bit but other than that works like a charm
Just a small note, the 300mm discs are a tight tight fit so you can here some scrubbing for the first few miles.

The flower stops/looks like a boss with this upgrade especially with my new wheels

My brembos haven't turned up yet and I need to figure out how big the spacers are that I will need for 182 cup wheels. Could be a while yet.

Looking good smokey!! When you say scrubbing where abouts are they scrubbing?

My calipers are all painted up and ready to fit, George if my brackets eventually turn up and you haven't sorted spacer sizes i will get a 182 wheel out the shed and measure up for you.

Note to anyone looking for these calipers. Go on ebay and message every person who is breaking a 406 v6. You may drop lucky (find un educated person) and get a very good condition pair £50 ;)

The scrubbing is due to the disc expanding a bit when its hot wich makes the disc touch the caliper a tad.
It will solve itself realy easy but just so you guys know.

Cheers smokey:)

Whats the clearance you have got between the back of the spokes and caliper??

Anyone know the ideal minimum tolerance without wheel caliper contact.
