WTF Can This Be ?

Problem Started tonight while driving down my street at around 20mph.

When im coming to a stop and braking gently there is a clicking coming from my back passenger wheel.
This has happened before and then it stopped. When having the 15" wheels on this never happened once.

The 16" turini's have been on less than 24hours and its started back again.

I have had Genuine OE Renault pads & discs fitted and 2 new brake cables. All this was fitted at a renault sport specialist. The click only happens when you press the brake pedal and it is 100% rotational as the click slows down when the car slows down. when rolling down the road and pulling the handbrake the click is not there.

Im going to nip into Kwik Fit and get the wheels re - balanced and torqued up to the correct setting.

Anyone got any idea's on this ??

I had this problem, check the pads are secure.. I had a slightly warped disc and a loose pad causing this, new discs ans pads sorted it...

Even with new ones its worth checking

That's what most people miss out.

I'm not sure, but you can buy this complete kit from most places. Got mine from Allparts.

£30?

Think I payed about £6 mate. All I needed were the two retainers your after too. But used it all anyway.

£7.50 ish from euro car parts. But it's showing the older design in the picture. Should be the newer revised design though

I'm totally puzzled how this is as its happened on my 16's over a year ago and then it stopped itself after maybe about a month or so.
I out 15" alloys on and car has no noise, I return to 16's and the clicking is back.

From what I see I doubt the garage I used to do the work would leave or not fit a part.

The clicking also only happens when going forward and not in reverse.

Im going to buy a rear bad fitting kit and fit it this weekend to see if this helps any

I've never seen the top two clips before, either.

Mine have shims and spring clips and they've yet to fall out in 2.5 years/25k miles.

What are the washers and things for listed in the Renault Kit ?

That kit is like £35 from Adam, I bought it thinking it was just the needed parts for securing the pads, I very much doubt you will need most of it (pointless)

Im buying new rear pads & full fitting kit and just for good measures im getting my caliper carriers shot blasted back to perfect metal.

There is 100% no nail in my tyres as the tyres where all washed along with the wheels and the clicking only happens when braking at under 10mph coming to a slow stop.

Washing your tyres? Hmm....

My rears are fine, no lose pads.

No point in putting tyre dressing on the outter walls if they are dirty and muddy so I thought I would check my tyres and run a soapy brush over them also.
