Electrical problem??

As some of you will know I recently replaced my engine, fine no problem...

Now I have replaced the gearbox using the exact same technique...

Now here comes the problem: I have a fault where my lights work fine when on side lights, then when I switch them on to main beam the indicator comes on instead of the main beam bulb on the drivers side....

This gets weirder now because when you indicate on main beam the main beam bulb flashes unless you have the lights turned to sidelights o off.....

I have checked and cleaned all the earths/earthing points and checked to make sure that the wires are all in the correct place/orientation.... All fuses are present and okay, all bulbs are also present and okay.....

Any ideas? My guess is wiring loom but I wanted to make sure there was nothing else amiss.....

FML could this also cause problems with the key/immobiliser?

Also how come it is only affecting the lights if not?

And how much?

Yes it could cause imob issue but its only on the lights circuit because its a common failing circuit when you consider how hard that little box has worked over the years.

The UCH performs all body switching functions that you take for granted including the lights. Take it somewhere for proper diagnosis BEFORE spending a single penny though.

Will do as soon as I get the key sorted mate, key is 11 year old and basically falling apart but it won't currently lock/unlock the car or start it thanks to the immobiliser stopping it

I have tried resetting the key to the car and no difference....

Sourced a UCH, ECU and key including all locks and ignition barrel, transponder ring etc for. £89.99 + £9.99 delivery via 48 hour courier

Does this seem about right?

In anticipation of it being the UCH that's the problem tbh... But will need a key and matching key holes anyway as none of mine match and the key is royally fooked tbh

I will mate but the problem I have is taking anywhere lol, I don't have the money to get it towed to a garage and then pay garage prices...

And without the key doing anything like it should be I have had to lock the car using the inside button....

I could probably afford either the towing or the garage and then be skint for the rest of the month lmao

But ideally I would need to get it running to even get it to a garage :/

Normally yes but I don't need it for a few days now luckily...

especially after all the (excellent) work you have put in changing the engine etc etc.

Thank you very much mate, I really appreciate that

I hope I have the towing sorted cheap off a local guy that breaks Clios waiting for a reply off him tomorrow and hopefully he may be able to confirm whether I need the full set above :/

If so either he will be getting some more money for the parts or Renparts will be getting the money for the parts

More than happy to do the work myself after all the other bits I have done lol
