In 6 months we've had two new tyres, belts and tensioners changed at a cost of £54, not forgetting an additional £60 in exhaust repairs. To be honest I think when you spread the cost of running a 182 over the course of a year they're good value. £600 in 6 months not including tax doesn't sound...
Was it advertised on Autotrader? I saw an HT53 on their website recently. That looks soooo tidy! If you don't mind me asking how much was it? I'm in the market for one and need an idea of what they're selling for. :)
In my opinion FWD cars have more character to them when being driven hard, I love 182 handling but have never driven a trophy to experience the advantages of the trick suspension.
Personally I am yet to find any RWD car that makes me want to go out and buy one, although they have advantages...
I would recommend a Zetec-S anyday, just go for a phase 2 with lower mileage as the bottom end is stronger.
Check the oil and ask the owner how often he has to top it up, if it's low on oil walk away- listen for a noisy bottom end too they're prone for breaking.

It looks in good condition from the outside, give it a good claying session and a few coats of meg's with a wax glaze- perfecto!
I'd lower it 20mm and "maybe" treat it to some turini's. Happy days! :)
