Anyone know the socket size for 172 Head Bolts? Thought it was E16 Female Star Socket??

Since my engine went pop a few weeks ago, managed to source another engine from James @ Stone. I want to clean the engine up for it's put in next week. What's the best method? Pressuming plug any ports with rags etc, degrease and rinse/repeat.

Had a look on GSF and it's showing 2 kits, 1 for £101 and the other for £146, anyone know which one is needed for Ph1 172? Also any one know the engine code for Ph1 172? F4R.... ? Thanks Tom

hmm decsions. What kind of costing would I be looking to replace the valves? Pressume this all reliant on the head being stripped and inspecting the damage, hoping only as you say valves are bent.

Well 2 weeks ago, the day after I changed my throttle cable on my Ph1, going to work, had done about 10 miles or so and lost all power. Coasted to the hard shoulder, turned off and tried to start, car was cranking,but not firing (not very good with engine lingo). Very odd noise it makes...
