Downgraded from my 172 to a landrover 101 and a Mk2 golf gti - The gti I picked up off ebay for £40 less than a monthly payment on the 172! Changed the cam belt and rear wheel bearings for £150 at a local garage, and no problems in the 6 months I've had it so far. It's also slightly rusty...

Tried releasing the height adjustment on the wheel, then re-tightening? Solved the "creaking" on mine, but dont know if it would work for "craclking" ;)

I used to take my 172 to Renault at Theale, near Reading. Excellent service (and repairs!), more than happy to pick up the mess that Fish Brothers (Readings main dealer) usually got themselves into. Oh, apart from when they ordered Laguna parts... Not quite sure how they got that wrong...

Brand new car? Reject it, get the dealer to get you another. There shouldnt be that many faults, even in a Renault. Sounds like a Friday afternoon car. :cry:

I had to give up on mine - it was the side/parking light, drivers side. Left it until the MOT, got them to fit it for free as I bought the bulb from the parts desk, then gave it to them with the keys :)

£103 in my landrover 101 when it ran out and had to fill it on a motorway service station... 120 litre tank, about 3 months ago during the 85p/litre phase. :(

The dealers insisting that if its not replaced, itll fail the mot. Im currently awaiting a response from Renault UK as to warranty. The cars registerd on the 13th July 2001, so my guessing is theyll look into it until wednesday, then claim its out of warranty!:cry: Otherwise I am tempted to...

Well, finally tracked down the mystery of why one of the headlamps sometimes fails to come on - the headlamp starter unit is playing up, and my local dealer want to deprive me of £270 for a new one! As the car has only gone in for an MOT, do I really need one of these? The headlamps work 99...
